I have been working at City of Toronto part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Really good pay for doing very little (it's a very stationary job that requires little movement)

    Cons

    - It can be very slow with few kids or very busy which means constantly having to monitor kids
    - It's difficult to correct parents when they're doing something wrong (AKA going on their phones)
    - Parents can also be very aggressive, demanding to know why the wading pool isn't yet open when that's a problem that cannot be solved by employees
    - Seniority

I worked at City of Toronto full-time

    Pros

Helping others who are in need of. Making a difference.

    Cons

Management sometimes has difficulty making a decision as they are afraid of going against their peers. When dealing with homelessness there is no black and white, but empathy that should result in a lot of grey area supporting shelter population.

    Advice to Management

Interact more with clients and less time with your peers.

I worked at City of Toronto full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The coordinators are generally nice and very understanding. Once you're in with the City of Toronto, it's very easy to move around and try out different positions (if qualified).

    Cons

The Supervisor's that I had was very rude, and generally fairly demanding. However, this does not seem to be the norm. Pay was sometimes wrong, and had to check every paystub to ensure I was getting compensated correctly.
