      Decent, pros and cons

      Pros

Decent work life balance depending which team and division youre in. Decent benefits and pay. Government job with a large municipality at the end of day, lots of movement to try different roles within or between other Divisions if successful in application process. Unionized if that's your thing. Very diverse amongst staff. No discrimination or racism faced from fellow team members, cant say the same for the public though when dealing with them.

      Cons

Nepotism still around with hiring and promotions internally though maybe not as bad as it use to be. Lots of senior heads talk about the good old days and how the City was more generous with looking after its employees, said amongst most of them to know its not fully false. Work can be mundane and repetitive. Lots of employees working that makes you scratch your head how they got hired in the first place. Lots of politics and decisions/directives that get passed to employees which makes no sense. Out of touch management that forgot where they came from - havent worked the frontlines for years so they dont understand or forgot the daily wear and tear that staff goes undergoes, empty words giving thanks and praise but no action, too concerned with the perception of doing something then actually creating change that benefits the employees which in turn benefits the tax payer.

I definitely enjoy my position, you get to interact with a lot of different people from all over the world.

      Pros

-Getting to speak with interesting/kind/funny/sweet people -99% of my coworkers are easy to be around, most are helpful as well. -May be a con or pro depending on the person but it is not physically demanding obviously. You're sitting the vast majority of the time, they provide good chairs along with other accessories to help with your posture. -Bosses are strict but also generally very reasonable and quite a few will defend you as long as you're following guidelines/rules.

      Cons

-Not much above minimum wage, but I don't think it's too difficult of a job so it may be fair -You will occasionally have to deal with rude, unreasonable or just miserable people. Don't take it to heart, although you may have someone try and get under your skin if they don't get their way.
