I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Flexibility - Reputable company

    Cons

    - People : most of the engineering work is outsourced to India and you have to really chase people to get things done - A lot of people are looking after their self interest rather than the company itself

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Cisco Systems for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible working arrangement. Work from home majority of time. Good salary... not the best, but good.

    Cons

Can be very political. Slow to change their ways, even when proven that they no longer work. Most of the Sales team only cares about getting the customer to sign on the dotted line, regardless if solution is beneficial to client or not. Make cuts to workforce without really taking into consideration whose performing well. Cisco is not the same company it was 6 years ago. It is not as collaborative and friendly... as before.

I worked at Cisco Systems for more than 5 years

    Pros

Salary, sales commission program + benefits. Brand and name has an excellent reputation, great talent working for the company worldwide. Opportunities to grow for ambitious people.

    Cons

Staff moves around a lot, very political inside large companies. Lots of internal selling to make with different levels of people to move things forward. Too slow at launching new products or technologies, smoke and mirror syndrome is hurting the sales team credibility (finance and legal weigh more than marketing and sales). Lay offs are inevitable (almost each year) - highly competitive culture among staff due to... this pressure.

    Advice to Management

Less bureaucratie to move things faster (from product development to approval of deals). Walk the talk with involvement, communication and empowerment of your sales teams.
