I worked at Charter Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, most of the Mgrs were very talented.

    Cons

After CC bought TWC 80+% of Charter employees, and even more of the CC Execs got cut. Everything became TWC policies which doesn’t make much sense since they were BILLIONS of dollars in debt. Obviously their policies were not working very well!

    Advice to Management

You should have taken better care of the Charter people instead of running them off!

I worked at Charter Communications full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Local team and management were great.

    Cons

Senior management made frequent and unannounced operational changes with no or sometimes incorrect information. Senior leadership is utterly indifferent to frontline and middle management and openly articulated that if employees didn't like it they could leave and be replaced with no problems. They didn't even pretend to care about employees concerns or the issues they cause with haphazard and poorly planned changes.

    Advice to Management

Hire and use change managers and listen and truly understand employees concerns. You have a wealth of experience and knowledge that could improve your company. Take the time to explain why you make changes and at least pretend to care about your employees. I loved working at Time Warner before Charter bought it. Many of Charters changes were good ideas that were horribly executed because of the lack of communication and the utter indifference of senior leadership.

I worked at Charter Communications (More than a year)

    Pros

Your time is your own. Base pay. Free cable, phone, internet. Health, dental, life, health insurance. Phone Coaching. Patience. Commission to earn more.

    Cons

Learning to dress for and work in the worst weather condition outdoors. Commission plan changes often not for the better. Being assigned addresses in dangerous low income high crime areas but leads in the wealthiest as well because everyone uses cable. No support if you are arrested for soliciting etc.

    Advice to Management

Get in the field and out of the vehicle with a rep everyday and take the lead and earn some respect from your subordinates by knocking a few doors with your reps.

I worked at Charter Communications full-time

    Pros

Good company to work at if you are single or no family.

    Cons

No work life to home life balance. From technician level to management level, the company only cares about you working how ever many hours you have to until they let you go home. At management level, the company does not respect your time off.
