I have been working at Charles River Development full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Higher than industry standard salary, Gym, Smart people around. There is a hope to modernize product/solutions technically. 4 weeks vacation from first year.

    Cons

Legacy product, lot of over engineered solutions and very hard to understand them. Almost every engineers work from Burlington office and the teams lack a global work environment culture. Health benefits are not good.

    Advice to Management

Modernize and modularize the product to next level as many teams are highly dependent on veteran people because of it's complexity .Development centers need to grow geographically as well to get best people across the globe.

    Pros

    - Tons of smart people - Teammates will give you the time you need to finish your work - Good connections - Good starting salary

    Cons

    - Technology is very outdated with little to no motivation to pick up something new - Growth is limited - Lack of culture - Lack of documentation across the board - Not everyone is willing to share even the most basic information - Some managers micro-manage as if there is no tomorrow and have no trust in you

    Advice to Management

Just look at a bit south to see how so many companies in Boston do it.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Charles River Development full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Solid products, smart people, good pay, minimal internal politics, minimal meetings.

    Cons

Old technology. Management has little trust in employees, inflexible, resistant to work from home option and exclusively top down style. Little employee engagement. Sporadic firing. Atmosphere in the office is stifling, people are wary of being seen mingling. Less than 10% of employees showed up for all-company sponsored social event. No company spirit, not an exciting place to work.

I worked at Charles River Development full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Charles River is a good place to work with some very smart people. Work happens at a good cadence so good work life balance. Good pay compared to other companies. The company is doing well with good growth. Flexible working hours.

    Cons

Does not encourage working from home. Limited opportunities for growth. No Bonus or other incentive structure. Scope for independent development and experimentation is minimal.

    Advice to Management

Provide more incentives and growth opportunities. Give independence to developers to try new things to improve the product. Ideas seem to set in the stone from management with little opportunity for input from developers.
