    Pros

Honestly, If you want to work on and understand the complexity of ad delivery (millions of requests daily) Casale is the place for you. - No red tape, no useless meetings or emails - Open Source stack - Simple management structure, no hiearchy - Since everything is inhouse, you can literally work on any kind of software work you can think of (everything from front end web dev to Big Data to writing to code to... handle millions of requests daily) - The MOST important reason, easy access to VP of Engineering (great boss/person), if you have any issue with your job, you can talk to him, no matter what the situation, he will make sure you leave with your mind at ease. In simple terms, working at Casale is like working on college assignements, people rely on you to give your 100%, do a good job, etc but then at the end of a few releases we go out and party hard - drink all you want, eat all you want, and some other good things I dont want to write here :) I was part of the backend team, and yes the standards are high, but that has its reasons. If you come in with even beginner knowledge of how the web works, such as how requests are handled by the web server (HTTP protocol), how cookies work, how to write a CGI programs, and databases, then you will have no problem with the training.

    Cons

First a correction, work-life balance at Casale is like any other company of its size, most people work between 40-45 hours per week, no work from home, or anything like that. I feel a lot of people that are complaining of the work life balance are the people that came in with missing prerequisites, and had to spend extra time to complete their training assignments (I did that in the first month, than I caught... up). The only con I can think of is (only relevant to backend): maybe try TDD (test driven development), since the current work-flow tends to put the pressure on the testing team. Instead, if the entire backend team is made up of dev's who also write their own test cases, testing bottleneck can go away.

    Advice to Management

    - re-evaluate what is actually needed to be successfull in difference roles, and then make the necessary changes in the interview process. That is, since it is really important to know how CGI programs work make sure that is asked in interviews - Many people are oblivious to how interesting it is to work on ad delievery, go to various university and colleages and do tech talks!

    Pros

Free Lunch on Fridays Free Snack Pantry Great coffee machine

    Cons

Don't know where to start. Management doesn't like suggestions, even when they asked for it. There is always a person roaming around with target on their back. It's managers job to make the person either quit or fire them. Once the person is gone, they move to the next person. They take pride in hiring new immigrants/new grads, stating that no one else wanted you in the industry so be thankful for the opportunity... we are giving you. Pay is low and they promise a 5K jump, which never happens because there is always something wrong with your work or performance. You spend more time in the meeting rooms explaining your work than actually being productive. Even if someone is given the job of being your mentor, manager still needs to sit down with you to go over the same thing mentor did 5 mins ago. CEO is the worst. I have no idea how this company is in business with so much attitude. I wouldn't recommend anyone to work at this place. Everyone I knew from Casale was either let go or they left.

    Pros

Commission structure People Some of the products we sold. Young staff

    Cons

Upper management was hostile and irrational. Very young staff who was worked too hard and expected too much of. Undefined rules and guidelines. Some people could get away with anything if they were chummy with the young boss.

I worked at Casale Media full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Decent pay - Free snacks - Top notch equipment - Working on a big complex project

    Cons

    - PERL. While rest of the world moves forward with Node, Javascript, Python, GO etc. even PHP and Java is moving on. - Poor documentation, not updated regularly. - Mid level managers don't behave well. Mostly because they are also under pressure. As a result there is no real mentorship. A poorly designed training program is there to make up for it, but it isn't the same. - Very strict conditions on the contract,... e.g., every line of code you write during your employment here belongs to the company. - Poor work-life balance. You are expected to work a lot. Managers misbehave if you don't. - There obviously is a red tape culture in practice. Some reviews claiming certain senior people to be easily approachable are obviously fake. It hard getting hold of the junior managers at times. Let alone mid and senior people. - Team spirit is lacking. Even poorly funded start ups have better sense of camaraderie, its a shame this multi million dollar company lacks in this department. - Not a quite area for developers to sit, focus and work. - The lunch area is a poorly organized open space. - The entire team shares the lunch table, this means your poorly behaved managers will be sitting there and you'll have to tolerate their blabbering during your lunch break. - Hardly any natural light in the area where developers work.

    Advice to Management

    - Learn from other companies who are better at managing their resources. - Hire mid level managers who have people skills as well as technical skills. - When interviewing a candidate, let them meet the managers they'll be interacting with. - Clearly state what skills you are looking for in a candidate. E.g: you need PERL developers, so advertise for PERL developers only.

I have been working at Casale Media full-time

    Pros

    - Decent benefits - Free lunches on Friday - Free snacks and drinks - Free parking.

    Cons

    - Brutal 'training' process (many new hires get outright fired after 3 months). - Management that hardly communicates in positive ways. - Unresponsive coworkers who are clearly too stressed. - Barely any company culture. You go there to work and nothing else. - Sub-par project planning - unrealistic deadlines and expectations. Often results in people working into the night. - Overall negative energy. Many... people are intimidated to work, rather than being passionate about the work.

    Pros

it's challenging and there is a lot to learn. Benefits are really good.

    Cons

People are very stressed there and they don't even say good morning. Employees don't give much chance to correct their mistakes and grow. They use Perl, you know. Training program is badly organized. There is little communication between management and employees.

    Advice to Management

Take time to communicate with new employees at the beginning of the training session rather than firing them at the end of evaluation.

I worked at Casale Media full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Company is expanding along with the fast growing online advertising industry. Salary and benefits are decent. Work is very challenging.

    Cons

    - Very high turn over - Long hours, no bonus, no overtime pay, very little vacation. Management always thinks it's a privilege for you to work there. They give you enormous work with inadequate time. - Condescending management, very little room to make mistakes. Be ready to be blamed on any mistakes. What they want is perfect man. If you are not perfect, you gotta be a yes man. Do not ever try to explain. It... will make you look worse. - Some had pointed out(100% agree): Majority of the "good" reviews written are fake! If you worked or currently works here, you can tell who wrote the good reviews. Check the reviews yourself, they are either 5 stars(love the company to death) or 1-2 stars(hate the company to death). - Pay attention to the non-compete term you sign. It is fine for one or two years. They make it super long. If you leave, unfortunately you are banned from the industry. - Ever seen 15-20 people working in a 250 sq-ft 2-meter ceiling concentration camp like attic? Yes, that is right! Dirty washrooms, tiny/dirty lunch room, you will find out. It is like a warehouse, not a high tech company. Oh yes, it was a warehouse.

I worked at Casale Media full-time

    Pros

benefits, snacks, free Friday lunch, learning experience

    Cons

Majority of the "good" reviews written are fake! If you worked or currently works here, you can tell who wrote the good reviews. You're in if you are a "Yes Sir!" type of person so if you can live that culture, you will get promoted, get a decent job title, get a little bump in your pay, and get tons of work load! Read one of the reviews here that talks about hiring new grads and new immigrants - what was said... in that review is true! Employee turnover is fast and they think that's because those people are not meant for them. Indeed, because those people who left knows what they want, are competitive, knows there are better companies out there with far better culture, and knows their worth! Vacation days? If they give you a laptop don't forget to bring it and check your phone too! 9-5? No. If you can work an average of 12 hours every day (and at times more than that!) and get your work logged down to the minute, you've found your crib! If you love what you do and you care for yourself, look somewhere else.
