The vacation and sick day allotment is extremely generous. The work day is flexible, although that is dependent on your team. People are genuinely nice.
Cons
CIHI lacks a vision for the future. The CEO and upper management is stuck in a 1990s mentality when times have changed. This is reflected in the quality of work. It's difficult to "move up". Most career moves will be lateral rather than vertical, it's very difficult to gain a promotion. Despite the difficultly in being promoted, middle management is extremely bloated. While committed to diversity, upper management is extremely white.

Pros
There are a lot of great people that work there
Cons
There are limited positions above me to move onto
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Too much politics at play

Did a good job when Covid hit, kept people updated, communicated and put employee safety first Good pension plan Smart colleagues Work that matters and impacts Canadians People care about our mandate Christmas office closure Ample time off extended to employees for appointments (medical, school, bank etc)
Cons
The RTO has been stressful on a lot of employees and they’re leaving in droves HR is incompetent, the department isn’t well respected internally at all for many reasons Change can be slow/difficult Very hard to move around or get promoted. (I applied for a lateral move internally and didn’t get contacted AT ALL, despite meeting all of the qualification criteria) Compulsory to go into the office on a weekly basis, not moving with the times. ITS had a Town hall to address employee concerns (namely the significant portion of people leaving), it left more people annoyed than anything. Hard to get courses paid for even though it’s listed as a benefit A lot of great people have walked away and a lot of who are left are looking externally Micro management mentality

Cons
Difficult to advance your career

Was a good company. Senior management treats employees like children.
Aug. 19, 2022 - Senior Analyst in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great colleagues. Meaningful work. Great middle management.
Cons
Very top down management heavy. Sends out employee surveys and cherry-pick results (eg. 25% of you agree with this so we are going to go with that). Treat employees like children as if we don't work in data analytics. Benefits has been stripped from what it was before while again, cherry-pick information to pretend it's better rather than be straight up and frank about it. RTO management was a disaster. Lots of young and experienced talents leaving due to poor recent directions. Their solution is to set up recruitment booths at universities for people freshly out of school.
