A great and interesting place to work!

      Pros

There are great teams of people to work with and the organization is a phenomenal cause to support. Benefits are also great which is a huge perk.

      Cons

There is a significant lack of support or sense of caring from the upper echelons of management. The divide in differences of opinion/approach between management and the front line teams will often be as stark as day and night. Their inability to eliminate the MSM restriction is particularly upsetting given the lack of scientific evidence to support it.

      Pros

Little job security for new hires, employees of less than 5 years

      Pros

Benefits, Pension, working towards a good cause.

      Cons

Zero job security unless you've work there for 10+ years. Most jobs are seniority based in a time of constant layoffs with lots more to come over the next few years as the company reaches it's goal to cut costs. CEO's salary continues to raise in exorbitant amounts. Due to the size of the organization, staff are viewed as numbers rather than people and front line staff are seen as dispensable. Good work ethic gets you nowhere. Lots of staff with bad habits. Skills learned on the job are not recognized outside of the company (lab experience, phlebotomy). Little opportunity to advance in the company. Most new positions are hired externally. Company gets away with breaking their union collective agreements. Too much office politics. Working in an environment where most people are concerned about losing their job creates a toxic environment.

      Pros

Awesome dedicated Donors, great co-workers, have schedule 1 month in advance therefore able to schedule your days or evenings when not working, team work, fast pace most of time

      Cons

Lots of evening clinics, schedule as far as Friday nights, Saturday's and out of town clinics are not evenly distributed among staff, rarely recognized by management of hard work, front line staff often not informed of coming changes first as we hear it by Donors or media then by management

Could be amazing, but management doesn

      Pros

      - wonderful working with the donors - great front-line staff to work with, made some great friends - get to help people do a good thing - decent wage

      Cons

      - horrible schedules, impossible to have a life outside of work much less get another job, trying to book time off or switch schedules a nightmare - donors treated by upper CBS management as cattle, no more than a "meat sack" to get free blood product from, just a #number to them - front line staff takes all of the crap and none of the recognition for a job well done, and are treated as if they are disposable - terrible moral and high turnover - managers only show up on high profile events to "take credit" for their *cough* hard work

Used to be a great place to work.....

      Pros

Great people that care about what they do.

      Cons

Schedules are in constant flux for front line staff as business needs change yearly. Management needs to value donors and staff. Management has been there for a long time and the message is stale. Same regurgitated ideas.

Potential to be a meaningful place to work, but falls short.

      Pros

Decent pay scale, good benefits, meaningful work saving lives

      Cons

Top heavy in management. Employees strengths, ideas or hard work are not valued, not much room for advancement. Low morale amongst staff. Front line staff deal with a lot of stress.
