I worked at Canada Bread Company full-time

    Pros

Fast-paced environment with daily challenges utilizing industry leading software systems to carry out assigned responsibilities.

    Cons

Implementation of process improvements is too slow. Executioners of process improvements were not properly trained on information systems and other business software integral to the success of the production plans.

    Advice to Management

Production workers should be aware of potential risks and work together to reduce waste.

I have been working at Canada Bread Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

none, have to work every weekend rotating shifts and Tuesdays and Fridays off.

    Cons

Grupo Bimbo flooded the Canadian operations with Mexican staff who are here taking jobs away from Canadians. They scared upper management to reduce costs. Upper management does not know how to do that because a lot of the managers with baking knowledge have been let go because upper management is insecure and has no baking knowledge in Ontario Manufacturing. Rather than running the plants more efficiently and reducing production costs, the only way they know how to save money is to fire people. Not a good outlook for this company. Stay clear of it if you are looking to work here and think you are going to make a career out of it. HR leadership is pathetic and does what ever the president wants done. No courage to stand up for Canadian employees losing jobs.

    Advice to Management

Go work for Westons where you will be valued as it is a Canadian Company.

I worked at Canada Bread Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company had benefits and you got to take home 2 product at the end of your shift, good co workers as well

    Cons

At our facility (North Bay, when it was open), good luck in getting time off. The management wouldn't tell you if you had the time off....even with 3 MONTHS advance notice. Any time off request was met with the excuse of "we'll have to see how that week looks". Basically meaning that they wouldn't tell you until the last minute if you had the time off you asked for. It also didn't help being on midnights with your days off split up.

    Advice to Management

Try to put yourself in the position of your workers. Not only are we working midnights with our days off split up, but you won't give a straight answer as to time off requests with more than reasonable advance notice.
