    Rebuilding

    Pros

Interact's strength is the large percentage of front-line employee's who have Public Safety experience. The employees that carry out the day to day operations at the customer level are by far the greatest group of people I have ever worked with.

    Cons

The company was hijacked by private equity as a play on cloud-based and SaaS computing. 4 years worth of investing, positions on the board, C-level leadership from silicone valley who were too arrogant to listen to the fact that public safety is different than the latest start-up app. They wanted to flip the company for hundreds of millions. Instead, the "revenue is king" strategy brought the company to the edge of the cliff. The new company that bought up Interact will eventually right the ship, I believe, but it will be a long process.

    They suck less, but still...

    Pros

Field staff and support staff are awesome. They suck less than others in the industry. Many positions allow working from home.

    Cons

To many chiefs. Everybody is a VP. Its hilarious. Employees working for managers that have no clue about the industry. Acquisitions have gotten leaders into positions they are not suitable. Each acquisition changes the company focus from CAD to mobile, to online RMS without regard to who has been paying the bills. No "real" advancement in technology. Just one competitor copy-catting the other. No cost of living increases and no pay for overtime. Field employees are brow beaten over expenses but sales and VP's have a blank check. Staff are processed to death and not even ISO certified anymore. With offices all over the place, no one seems to know whats going on or who is in charge.

Worried about the customers we are leaving behind

    Pros

Field-level employees are literally the best in the industry. Great benefits. Many very dedicated supervisory level employees

    Cons

Private Equity has been both the saving grace and curse of this company in the past few years. Operations has brought in competitor employees for supervisory roles, particularly in the field who have absolutely destroyed the cohesiveness once a benchmark at Interact. The direction of the company has been set by many who know nothing about the 911 industry

Very committed co-workers and a dedicated senior management team in a tough market/industry

    Pros

Even though we are stretched thin my manager still works hard at being flexible when I need to handle a personal situation or need time away; ability to work from home, competitive pay, decent benefits and a manager who does not micromanage. Feel empowered to do my job and serve our customers.

    Cons

There are some in the company who can't let go of the way things used to be done - who resist change at every turn, even when it's obvious we have to change in order to be successful financially.

    Pros

Financially stable, responsible and results driven company. Stand by corporate values and consistently invest in developing employees and leadership. Huge promoters of work/life balance and recognizing achievements. Big company, lots of potential for growth and career advancement.

    Cons

Lots of remote employees, you can work for a year and not meet your peers. Can make communications and process difficult at times.

Very rewarding work environment with excellent leadership

    Pros

They are driven by a compelling mission. The current leadership is creating a very winning culture. InterAct responds to internal and external criticism in the right way - by making changes

    Cons

InterAct is a bit top heavy. Through a few great acquisitions, InterAct has inherited some great technology, but also some legacy leadership. It is uncertain who has responsibility and authority for various things, due to overlapping levels of senior management.

    Pros

InterAct still has a bunch of employees who are firmly dedicated to Public Safety and its mission. Benefits package is competitive.

    Cons

Since the acquisition by N. Harris Computer Corporation, the amount of internal and external communications have decreased. Customers and Employees seem to be leaving without any proactive response by management.

    Pros

Great team to work with. Products benefit the communities that purchase them and help public safety people protect lives and property.

    Cons

Public Safety is a tough and competitive business, with ups and downs that cause stress and make life difficult. Customers are sometimes difficult to deal with.

    new owners are terrible

    Pros

My co-workers are awesome. Most of us have been here for a long time and I have made many lifelong friends.

    Cons

The company was acquired by Harris and they have never taken on a company of this size so they're floundering. They promised there wouldn't be any more employee layoffs but, they have continually let people go since they took over. The management team is driven by their own egos and not by whats best for the company or customers. HR is nearly non-existent.
