I worked at CVS Health part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

MANY chances to move around, try different departments; and train yourself on being better. This is a great job that will help you discover just what you want to do (or avoid) in life.

    Cons

Occasional Management favoritism, poor co-workers (depends on your store), and lack of reasoning sometimes (also depends on your store). The worst part about working here are the thieves and entitled customers that think the world owes them everything; and they've probably never worked a day of retail in their life.

    Advice to Management

Complain to Corporate and get yourselves security guards some other stores do. I shouldn't have to watch sketchy people on occasion. Furthermore, make the effort to pay people fair wages. Current employees were making low wages, and when new hires come in, they make more than the current employees, or BARELY less than the current employees. Lastly, give the Pharmacy more hours. This will also depend on Corporate,... but I have seen the pharmacists have to work by themselves far too many times than I would like to see.

I worked at CVS Health part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Unionized, opportunity for growth, cares about customers

    Cons

Overworked, uncertain schedule and hours, cares less about employees

    Advice to Management

Started off at $10/hr, but did have to pay union fees. The job was very easy, but there was only ever one employee and one supervisor scheduled on the floor unless it was tag placing day (and even then it was often just one person) which made it difficult to get everything done AND greet and ring up customers. Unless it's a 24 hour store, the hours are decent, but with the company trying to save as much money as... possible, it's very likely to have an 8 hour shift alone every time you're scheduled. Time off was very hard to get and calling in sick left the store with no coverage at all. I had issues with a specific manager with scheduling, time off, weather emergencies, and other things. Overall it was an okay place to work, with the most common downsides of retail (bad hours, rude customers, etc.) Not a good place to work if you're immunocompromised or get sick easily.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Team Work Mentality Help / Do What's Right Culture Ability to move up quickly / Leadership Development Opportunities

    Cons

Salaried Managers work unlimited hours- 45 minimum a week. CVS is constantly reducing personnel hours and therefore increases manager's workload/hours (very little work/life balance) Front Store managers are held responsible for anything ongoing in the Pharmacy despite the fact that they do not have a PharmD or Pharmacist License and do not have 5 years of schooling in Pharmaceuticals.

    Advice to Management

This is a great opportunity if you are a hard worker. This is an incredibly physical job, sometimes a dirty/unpleasant job. It can be rewarding if you can handle the work load and have a strong team of Shift Leads and reliable Cashiers. This is an unpleasant job if you are unwilling/unable to train your team properly or hold them accountable- You will end up doing their job.
