I worked at CSC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Large company with solid corporate infrastructure. Knowledge base to draw upon for large projects is substantial. Project teams can be very effective and funding is not an issue providing justification is given.

    Cons

Top heavy with senior management that is not all that proactive. A typical matrix environment but productivity can be greatly impacted by an ivory tower approach.

    Advice to Management

Improved interaction of the various silos is mandatory to improve productivity and minimize costs. Team moral would improve substantially if more hands on support was provided from the Senior level.

I have been working at CSC full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I would like to say learning experience. Local colleagues are amazingly good and really resilient.

    Cons

The company process are dysfunctional really complex and make you feeling that you should runaway the first week you start working. Senior management are waiting for their retirement and will not fight hard for their employees. They prefer staying quiet to not loose their own job.

    Advice to Management

Start considering you employees. No salary increase, no retention plan, giving more and more responsibility without compensation is just innaceptable. The hierarchy is also totally dysfunctional. Changing people manager every month do not make sense. Also having them offsite and never meeting them face to face is totally useless. Do not bother employees with annual performance review if at the end it doesn't... matter.

    Pros

Work life balance, Flexible, More long term colleagues

    Cons

Strategy is very confusing No clarity Senior management has no clue

    Advice to Management

Executive management should look at the senior management and retain the right people. There is a lot that goes unrecognized and pick those gems and am sure you will do great.

I worked at CSC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Nothing to say for pros

    Cons

Think twice before joining this company. Only client places are good. Senior management is in late 90's, they treat you in the same way. IT field has changed a lot in terms of work culture, pay etc, but this company still follows old tradition. They prefer only less experienced people , so that they get more profit. Not many projects are available, but they will give lots of false commitments in the interview.... Many people don't have hike for 3 -4 years. Lots of layoff's going on too

    I worked at CSC

    Pros

Skilled colleagues and the ability to work from home

    Cons

Constant redundancy threat. No pay rise for years Appraisal scores forced into a "bell curve" in other words your score was fixed no matter how well you delivered. Manager cared so much she did my appraisal over the phone! Closure of local office at Solihull affected morale and resulted in my being located to Banbury - miles away Same old senior management, never deliver or do anything but miraculously have a... new role every few months Lack of fairness in employment. Jobs often given to senior management favourites with no fair recruitment procedure at all. suddenly a colleague will leave and you are told he has a new role in CSC- said role was never advertised Without a doubt a disparity in pay between male/female hidden by the ridiculous culture of salary secrecy... some of us did talk you know!! Forced to take holidays to make the accounts look better No training due to budget restrictions Travel bans or ridiculous levels of approvals for simple business trips Spineless junior management who do not address failings in staff - bullying laziness etc. Too afraid of redundancy probably

A lot of good people, flexible working.

    Cons

Poor senior management, lack of direction, stifles , not people focussed.

    Advice to Management

Spend less time on pandering to the CEO's egotistical self-righteousness and support your ideads, people and principles.
