  3. "Smart people, opportunities to learn, technology focused"

    5.0
Current Employee - Software Engineer in Moorpark, CA

I have been working at CJ Affiliate full-time

    Pros

Lots of learning opportunities, and a lot of smart, nice people to learn from.

    Cons

Owned by Publicis Groupe, which is more of a marketing focused rather than technology focused company. I am a little uncertain that Publicis Groupe knows how to utilize the strengths of CJ Affiliate effectively in the long term.

I worked at CJ Affiliate full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very structured organization and everyone offers their help at any capacity when you first start. Training is highly organized and mapped out in a way that allows for ease of self guiding. If you're competitive, this is definitely the place for you! Events and in-person meetings with clients are always a blast. Bagels on Fridays! Free coffee! It's a great place to bite into - gulp - agency life and account management. I made a lot of friends with my coworkers. Interviews were quick in succession and my questions were answered clearly.

    Cons

I only got to meet senior leadership in my interviews; which left out that I'd be working with a very different set of people in my day to day and reporting to those other people. Given the chance to meet the entire team, I would've had a better understanding of what everyday would look like versus the leadership's expectation of their subordinates. They painted a picture of reporting to themselves, leaving out that there were multiple layers in-between. Not sure if this was due to my supervisor or my department, but more often than not I was working 50-60 hour work weeks on salary, oftentimes without breaks (lunch, walk, get outside for 5 minutes even). If you're not competitive, this is definitely not the place for you! Make friends quickly or be abandoned via clique culture. Sometimes it felt like I was in the midst of Greek Week trying to find "my people." Low pay compared to other companies in the industry around town. Some clients are AMAZING and others are NOT. The client is the customer. The customer is ALWAYS right.

I have been working at CJ Affiliate full-time

    Pros

CJ has been the best place to start a career out of college. Not only are you surrounded by many intelligent and fun co-workers, but you get to network and work with multiple companies. There are a lot of opportunities to grow and excel within the company. You're also constantly learning making each day unique and never boring. This company also comes with great perks and makes it easy to take time off. Before Covid, there were also fun team and office activities.

    Cons

The busiest time falls during Q4, which means you will most likely be checking your computer during the holidays. However, if you're able to split this work up evenly with your team it's easy to manage.
