I worked at CIBC World Markets full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Co-workers were nice and fun to be around. Quality of life was seen as a priority. Was able to work from home when needed. Good benefits.

    Cons

Senior management is based in Toronto. Not a lot of helpful information flowed down from them. It sometimes felt like they were hiding things from the NY office.

I worked at CIBC World Markets full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Based on observation, most are happy lifers. In a positive sense, the company is not cut throat, dynamic nor exciting. People seemed content just getting a paycheck. Most start as an Associate then become a director about 4- 5 years. If you are still an Associate after 5 year+, it's apparent that may be your plateau. If the person is in a supervisory role as a Director, interacting with senior management then chances of being an Executive Director is about 10 yrs+. The benefits were good, pay increases were modest. You can continue your education. There is good work / life balance.

    Cons

Intelligent people seemed to stop trying. Reporting & systems were outdated. Pay / bonus are modest

I worked at CIBC World Markets

    Pros

CIBC is a friendly place to work. It provides employees with good benefits package and special employee banking discounts and rates.

    Cons

The company culture is not very aggressive when compared to some of the other banks on the street, so not an ideal place for someone who wants constant career advancement.

I worked at CIBC World Markets

    Pros

They treated me well giving me opportunites for other jobs within the company when they went through internal changes. Benefits were good and I got a bonus and raise every year. Treated me fairly and with respect. Good company to work for.....

    Cons

Once they moved operations back to Canada the NY offices lost alot of there ability to get things done without jumping through alot of hoops....
