I have been working at CGI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

People, Management and Policies all aligned to asist the client in a successful completion of a project. Does not let you go just because there is no work and Management works hard to find work when things do slowdown. Employee share purchase plan is very good

    Cons

No annual salary increase to cover cost of living. Benefits could better in the area of dental and eye care.

    Advice to Management

Look into creating a better benefits packaging for dental and eye care.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at CGI full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are good people there and you will establish great relationships. The company tries to care and has ‘values’ that some leaders strive to achieve by investing in their people

    Cons

The organization’s focus on process and numbers prevents them taking care of their people. Unfortunately, the top-level pride in the success built on process prevents them from embracing their true asset - their people. The mindset is old-school and people are cut to ‘make the numbers’ instead of leveraging their people with innovation to ‘make the numbers’.

    Advice to Management

What got you here isn’t going to get you there. Let go of what was successful in the 90’s and invite new thinking in to how the company can be great.

I worked at CGI full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits, share purchase plan and generous vacation package. Generally nice people to work with.

    Cons

Overworked team forced to support too many clients and too many technologies without adequate training. Quick to lay off staff at the first sign of financial difficulties. Lowest bidder mentality results in projects and operational support contracts that cannot be delivered without the specified budget.

    Advice to Management

More training and reduction of workloads to more manageable levels needed. More precisely defined scope of work needed for new engagements. Reasonable budgets have to be secured to ensure that the promised services can be delivered with adequate staff and training.

    Pros

Many opportunities to sharpen a skill set that is transferable.

    Cons

Sometimes you are not exposed to some other activities that are common and necessary in the industry when you leave CGI. Like Government specific standards

I worked at CGI full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    * You can grow within the company (only if you ask for and are willing to) * You can ask for project change * Perks are ok

    Cons

    * Salary below market. * When you are at client's, you are usually forgotten.

    Advice to Management

Your are doing a great job growing the company, however the retention rate is not as good as it should be. There's still room for improvement.
