I have been working at CGI full-time

    Pros

Dental insurance, you can buy the company actions, excellent environment to work on, fast professional growth, the managers have always the door opened.

    Cons

As a consultant, you change places very often. The salary rate should be higher. They should give more training for the staff.

I worked at CGI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Learned a lot since I handled different roles. Direct supervisor was very supportive. Working remotely when necessary was ok. Good working relationship with team you work with.

Benefits are satisfactory. Salary could be better.

When there’s lot of projects, all is good you feel you matter

    Cons

Growing in the company was a challenge especially if you are someone who works hard and successful in your projects but the quiet and reserve type of person. Because you are quiet , they don’t see you at all even if you excel in your work.

Promotion process system and salary increase determination is questionable - least in my department

Once work slows down, I feel members are treated as numbers. Instead of taking advantage of the slow down for training and knowledge transfer, you are forced to take vacation or moved elsewhere to ensure you are billable

    Advice to Management

We all understand that revenue and profit is important but appreciating the members especially those who have been loyal to the company for so many years is also important.

I have been working at CGI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    You get paid on time...

    Cons

    LOTS of bureaucracy.
    Pay is mediocre
    Benefits aren't great.
They're slowly eliminating flexibility like teleworking.

    Advice to Management

Your benefit plan is most certainly NOT the "best money can buy", you might want to get a new third party to evaluate it.
Paying average pay for the level of work you demand is part of the reason for the turnover.
There are not a lot of young people (that I have seen) being prepared for management. What happens in 10 years when the boomers retire?

I have been working at CGI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

good benefits and profit participation. friendly coworkers. Promotes diversity.

    Cons

salary seems lower than other IT organizations.

Salaries can vary for the same position.

    Processes not always followed.

    Few career opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Have salary ranges for each position and post those ranges for staff. Enforce consequences for those who do not adhere to processes. Institute a mentoring program for those wanting to develop their career. The concept has definitely been talked about within CGI, but have yet to see it implemented.
