      Heading in the wrong direction

      Pros

      Great people to work with.

      Cons

Terrible training system. "Training" consists of a few videos, job shadowing for a couple weeks and then getting thrown into a role. Horrible management. It's like the blind leading the blind. They promote people to management who don't deserve it, because employees are either cheap or they can be controlled as they see fit. Have to be a Kiss-Butt to be promoted. They clearly don't care about great work quality. They only care about numbers and how much you kiss the managers rear end.

      Pros

Burns is filled with great people who want to help you succeed. Managers preach learning over perfection and treat mistakes as a way to make you better, not a reason to punish you. They have recently increased to 20 vacation days and started flex hours. They pay for you to become a licensed agent and will teach you the industry if you have no prior insurance experience. An awesome company to create a career and grow!

      Cons

None. If you ever had a problem they are very approachable and are willing to listen and adapt.

Good place to start, no long term advancemenet

      Pros

I worked in the Accounting Department. There is great people to work with. Good environment, recently renovated office space. I specifically worked in receivables, it was the easiest thing I have ever done. The main pro to this position was that I was able to get good corporate level experience. Managers, controller, are great people to work with.

      Cons

The accounting department is a dead end. No advancement other than to customer service which is probably the worst position in the department. Currently, everyone who is hired must have at least a bachelor's degree, thus there are highly qualified people for positions that require way less. Most people are great, there are a few people, like in every company, that you cannot even look at. Training can be handled way better. Like in any accounting position, end of year is a mess, don't expect to enjoy your holiday fully.

      Pros

Great people to work with. Very committed to insurance related education and willing to pay for it. Privately held/family owned business. Open door policy. Professional workplace with a great industry reputation. Great access to markets.

      Cons

Communication is sometimes lacking, but continues to get much better year over year. Tight guidelines on travel and expenses. Holiday time off is not the best, but decent.

      Pros

GREAT people, lots of freedom to build your own success, easy access to and interaction with senior management, a high level of employee support, encouragement and freedom to "be entrepreneurial", good reputation, an opportunity to be very successful in a short period of time

      Cons

Not so much a con, but a caveat: the company invests a lot in its employees, and as such, there are high expectations placed on you. Also, time off is very limited, especially the first couple of years.

      Unfulfilled

      Pros

Most of the people are great people. They are in the same boat you are in. Just about everyone with a future is seeking other opportunities.

      Cons

Be careful: Don't trust what you are told going in. Understand clearly that any promises made, unless signed by the CEO, are just words. Expect the company not to come through so on the rare occasion that they do you can feel good about it. They talk about things like work life balance, thinking outside the box, working smarter not harder, teamwork etc..., but they don't appear to support those ideas. They have good HR resources and initiatives, but the managers don't believe in or implement modern HR principles. Make sure your "kissing-up skills" are well polished and directed in the correct direction.

      Pros

Great people and a large company that is in the process of constant growth, there will always be more for you to do

      Cons

Currently over growing into a small office, moving the office would be a great help to get better workspaces for everyone in the office

      Mixed feelings about employment here

      Pros

Great people, good salary and benefits. Thought this would be my permanent position

      Cons

Interview doesn't provide the exact scope of the actual job requirements. Lack of training and assistance to learn. Get told to go through workflows as your way of learning. Systems are terrible and management knows it unless they need to use your struggle with learning them against you.

      Pros

Great people to work with OUTSIDE of the management.

      Cons

The worst management ever. Anything is said just to satisfy the employee which 95% of the time it's a lie. Should REALLY look into branch managers and how they are getting their bonuses... which is by stealing from the ones who do the work. Does not matter how high up in the chain you complain. Even though they say you won't be repromaded you will be. Management is highly unpersonal, poor communication, and just plain shady.
