I have been working at British Gas full-time

    Pros

My colleagues are great! The job is well paid for the work that you do. You work longer hours in the winter and redeem these hours in the summer as extra holidays.

    Cons

Other departments in BG are paid commission for doing the same job as me and in my department we do not earn commission, very unfair.

I worked at British Gas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent salary but still no where near enough for all the stress and bullying that took place.

    Cons

Expected to achieve unachievable goals and selling was far more important to Managers than the job engineers are contracted to do which is fixing/servicing gas appliances. The engineers who sold the most were favoured and would get away not fixing something properly ie temporarily fix that would go wrong again and someone else would have to do the job properly.

    Advice to Management

I'm well aware that the sales targets are set from the very top and you are also under pressure to get your Engineers to help you hit your targets, but have more respect and understanding towards the engineers who are good at their jobs and don't favour the bad/lazy engineers just because they sell loads and make you look good.
