    Cons

Law is a demanding business but the firm does a great job of creating integrated teams and an enjoyable work environment.

I worked at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The support staff. Close to ttc and subways.

    Cons

Everything...lack of respect for all staff. No communication. No proper mentorship for support staff. Cut throat environment. Lack of appreciation. Under valued. Extremely low morale . Favouritism is rampant. Some people get away with doing nothing while others are overwhelmed all because they were for management.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your support staff (training, leadership, mentoring etc.). Understand that law clerks also bring money into the firm...your welcome! So they should be treated with the respect that is due.

I worked at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good location and easy for public transit

    Cons

Not everyone is treated equally. Favoritism plays a large role and HR doesn’t try to solve the issues. Bullying in the workplace is real. Lawyers who aren’t even partners are able to treat staff like garbage. Management has no idea what is going on.

    Advice to Management

Review salaries, don’t pay someone right out of school more then current staff.

I have been working at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work hours and easy access via bus and subway.

    Cons

    Complete chaos.
Communication level is low, but yelling and swearing is high.
    Partners are pretentious.
No one has a smile on their face.
Employees leave due to stressful environment (very toxic) even employees that have been there for 15+ years are leaving!
    A lot of backstabbing.
No time to go out for lunch as there is work to do at lunch.
    Overtime is not paid.
Accounting department doesn't have enough employees to get the job done causing all sorts of problems for everyone else within the firm.

    Advice to Management

Fix the logistics and get the proper team leads to lead. Those are not necessarily the older employees that are just holding on to their jobs for obvious reasons.

    Pros

Collegiality. Culture. Benefits. Firm events. Remote working capabilities. Opportunities for growth and continuing education.

    Cons

Too many juniors in management positions.

    Advice to Management

Conduct an in depth review of each role in bd and its incumbent. Restructuring is necessary to eliminate waste roles.
