I have been working at BlueCat full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    1) A lot of very knowledgeable, focused, experienced people who care about doing the right thing 2) Exciting opportunities lay ahead 3) Strong senior leadership 4) Unique culture - really interesting blend of start-up mentality, but with the security and professionalism of an established company

    Cons

Not really a con, but the company has been transforming itself the past 1-2 years, many new people on board and things are fast paced currently. For new people joining it's an opportunity of helping to shape things - but this kind of environment is not always for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Communication has been great but keep sharing what's going on so everyone always knows the direction and goals, and knows how they can contribute.

I have been working at BlueCat full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Subsidised breakfast and lunch and the benefits are okay aside from RRSP matching (there is none).

    Cons

It's hard to know where to begin with this pup (ironic, eh, it's called BlueCat). Starting at the top, senior management in products is a conveyor belt of people who come, last until they find what they're up against, and then hightail it outta here. Believe me, the ones who stick are not people you'd want to work for unless you like religious cults (Agile, with a capital A, is the new Branch Davidian church of BlueCat)....

    Advice to Management

Get some senior management in the products team who aren't cultists and give the good people you do have autonomy and space to do their jobs.

    I worked at BlueCat

    Pros

Wonderful insight into the world of networking for big asset companies. One can learn alot about one of the more secluded but extremely important fields of software and hardware. The agile process is heavily leveraged and practiced ensuring one of the highest levels of experience in the practice.

    Cons

Teams are very well coordinated with themselves but not so well with others. Seem to have a strange almost clique like environment in certain scenarios, though very few. Vision of the product is nice, but knowledge about competition and what parts we lack compared to them is lacking. New scrum masters/product managers I felt spent too much time training and getting to know the product over actually working with the team....

    Advice to Management

I think it is valuable to inform teams of members leaving. No matter the reason or cause. During my time I noticed several people leave, but no notice of leaving. On boarding time is too long, not for a co op but for full timers from what I observe. Should look to trim the time down to 2 weeks max or else the value they bring starts to diminish.

    Cons
