      Blue is AWESOME!!

      Pros

What an amazing company to work for! Blue is an innovative and fun company that is growing a TON. Your contributions to the team are seen throughout the organization, and you’re able to see your work come to life. Great senior leadership who really operate by something we loving call the N/A policy. The culture at Blue is fast paced and very much operates by everyone playing an integral part in it’s success. GO BLUE GO!

      Cons

No cons, it can be demanding, but it’s very rewarding.

It's okay, but the cons outweigh the pros

      Pros

The pay was a few dollars above minimum wage in my area. It's an easy entry-level sales job with steady, long-term scheduling. You get a small rebate on Blue products every month. You don't make commission and there are no real quotas to make, so there usually is no pressure to sell (though this may vary based on your management). Managers are usually very flexible and understanding. There are some guidelines on how you should sell the products, but ultimately you can adapt them to your own style and strengths. And of course, who doesn't want to be paid to pet dogs?

      Cons

This job is incredibly boring and repetitive when it's slow. Although you don't work for the store that you're in, a lot of customers (and even staff) will expect you to help them as though you do. There is no travel compensation, and you are capped at 20 hours a week (and it's hard to even get 12 in some areas). Occasionally there are entire weeks that we can't work due to store events, which really hurts if you rely on this job to make ends meet. As a company, Blue has also been under fire lately for going under General Mills (which most staff found out about through the news, not by our employer!) and being linked to numerous health issues, so representing the company can be really stressful, especially when Blue isn't transparent about their sourcing and manufacturing. Lastly, there isn't a lot of product/nutrition training so you're expected to learn as you go, and there usually isn't someone to quickly turn to when you need help – I'm not a fan of Blue expecting people with little/no pet nutrition knowledge to recommend food to pet parents.

      Pros

Fun, dynamic, growing, market leader, financial strength, excellent marketing, maturing into a solid business

      Cons

There seem to be haves and have nots. Some people do really well financially in the is company, others do not. They make rapid decisions which can be great but not always. Be careful not to make a wrong step. Since going public there is a lot of pressure for financial performance and that is changing the nature of the company.

      Pretty Terrible Actually

      Pros

      - Pet Food Stipend - Lots of free swag - Copious amounts of alcohol at company events (if that is a plus for you)

      Cons

So many to share: - Terrible at helping on-board new employees. They just expect you to figure it out and all at a non-traditional CPG setup, which leads to... - Clique-ish culture. Easy to get left out of conversations and then punished for not knowing information people aren't sharing with you. Don't expect anyone to make sure you're informed. That's most of your job. - Poor Leadership, especially from the long-time "Buffs" who spent many years as "yes" people doing what the Bishops told them to do. These Buffs don't know how to actually think for themselves or come up with good ideas and the current struggles show it. - Bloated staffing - Definitely tons of people who do actually nothing. Fail to attend important meetings, don't respond to emails, etc. Tons of people there who add little value but somehow have stuck around

      Pros

Blue Buffalo has been consistent with their values of taking care of pets with quality food and treats. It feels good to work for a company with great standards and opportunities to grow.

      Cons

Hard to identify new positions within Blue sometimes. Really great company to work with, though.
