I worked at BlackBerry full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits package, comfortable work environment
Always felt like part of something bigger.

    Cons

Much of the pros started to diminish in 2013 when the company started to get left behind companies like Apple or Samsung. Benefits were pulled back to minimal and company stared to get more strict and providing less freedom. Its hard to say if the tightening of the reigns were part of the downfall as moral was depleting. (mainly in the hardware sector
But Faith in the company still remained and

    Advice to Management

The company seems to be turning its self around quit successfully now

I worked at BlackBerry full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, Working Remotely and Product Training

    Cons

HIGH turnover!! I came from acquisition and was top sales employee. I jumped ship as soon as customers continued to say how awful the product and support is.... Customers are leaving, product is broken and over priced, and comp plans continue to get worse. Before interviewing, look how many open reqs there are. The company is not growing, this is all turnover. Good luck finding people who have worked here over 2 years and can mentor you....the brand is still dead!

    Advice to Management

Take care of your customers and employees. Mgmt, do the investors a favor and leave. Board, create MBOs for employee retention and get accurate data. Most of the data presented to board is inaccurate...request 3rd party audits.

I have been working at BlackBerry full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Get to work with embedded technology which will power the next generation of cars.

    Cons

Wage is below average, even for a Co-Op position. Especially considering the competence expected of employees. There is a reason they are losing their employees to competing companies.

I worked at BlackBerry full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was once really good place to work at and the pay was (and still is) very good. Also, most (but not all) people I worked with (both coworkers and managers) were fantastic.

    Cons

As a smartphone platform builder it is practically dead. It failed to compete against Apple and Android. It is still alive (and in good shape) as a software vendor for the enterprise device management system but faces harsh competitions. Software related jobs are rapidly moving from Canada to Ukraine. New employees are rapidly hired in Ukraine and at the same time, lots of employees rapidly laid off in Canada. Waves of layofs happen roughly every half year, and in Canada it feels like a sinking ship. If you apply for a software related job - do not make long-term plans :)
