Work Hard Get Results BUT Don't Expect Gratitude or Opportunities

    Pros

Smaller company so you can make a difference if management provides credit where it is due (unlikely given management in Ontario)

    Cons

The management team in Eastern Canada (Ontario) has been in place for a number of years without any change and the one constant is extremely low morale of its employees. The turnover numbers should speak for themselves, however over the years many number of employees (sales/admin/yard staff) have felt mistreated, disrespected and not given the benefit of the doubt in any number of circumstances (even having to leave an hour early for a doctors appt is often questioned and frowned upon). When business is good and large contracts secured little gratitude is provided and the perception is management takes all the credit. There has been many talented employees leave over the years as a result of the culture and actions of management in this office. As well many business opportunities hurt as a result of some of the decision making of management.

    Pros

    - Fast-paced, high level of accountability and purpose in roles - Ability to make an impact - your ideas are heard - Enabled to take ownership in work which is very rewarding - Great Leadership

    Cons

    - Not the right place for someone who wants everything to have a set process and procedure - BDG is a smaller company with under 300 employees worldwide - Disconnect between branches and head office at times but they are working on bridging that

Stoney Creek is not a place I would recommend.

    Pros

    New units are very good.

    Cons

    1) Pay is low for industry 2) Virtually no training for new employees 3) Toxic work environment - look at the turnover rate 4) Safety is not a priority if it costs money - stacking Smart Space units without securing them to each other is an example 5) Poor leadership 6) Lack of empathy for employees 7) Operational disaster - just look at the mess of the yard 8) Behaviour of management can border on abusive

    Pros

The downtown office space is nice and modern. Some of the colleagues are great to work and socialize with. There is a dedicated social club which holds monthly events for the staff.

    Cons

Biggest small company around tons of bureaucracy makes it hard to get anything done. Management seems to waste a lot of time in meetings without actually achieving or implementing anything. If you are not "in" with the executive/cool crowd you are completely expendable and unappreciated. Lots of office politics and secrecy. They seem to let people go without real cause and without any warnings to improve performance to make room for their friends and industry contacts.

    Pros

Great coffee, and survivor type atmosphere

    Cons

this is a very politically charged workplace, lots of OT, office politics, and low pay. You work hard, and then have to work harder. The term work life balance does not apply here, its work with no life balance. This is a great job for a single person who likes to be kept busy.
