Terrible company with too many old people
Feb. 28, 2023 - HR Manager in Vancouver, BCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I can't think of any
Cons
Terrible pay with terrible culture. After the take over the people SO just did not align with the progressive nature of Bird. Too many useless middle managers esp in HR whos job is to literally waste your time by booking meetings about meetings. Typical boomers who have contributed to nothing but are in the field long enough to never get fired. The turnover itself is SHOCKING and should tell you enough. Everything at this company is difficult - instead of taking the easier route they just want to make things harder to "pretend" to be working. Nothing if efficient. I mean I reported to a manager who barely knew how to open an excel document. The dinosaurs at this company are destroying it.

- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Greater organization has a lot of promise, good culture and engaged leaders. ELT team has good intentions and are switched on. (Issues are local, frozen upper middle) Newer managers in Vancouver are great! (But are likely to leave… See ‘Cons’)
Cons
Disengaged district leadership. Prevents positive change and growth. Disables team efficiency. Dysfunctional/ Poor reporting structure. Very poor communication. Cronyism is rampant. Bad behaviour is tolerated/ reinforced, total morale killer. Subpar decision making all around, IF decisions are made. No followup/ no accountability. Expect that any effort to push forward/grow will be verbally supported individually (by local leadership) but nothing will advance. Vibe is deliberately complacent leadership.

Great opportunities and support
Dec. 9, 2022 - Project CoordinatorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Huge company with a small-company feel, lots of support if you ask and lots of opportunity to grow. Basically pick a thing you want to get good at, work at it, and that can become your specialty. Lots of recognition, great atmosphere
Cons
Not necessarily a lot of structure, which can be good at times and bad at times

Pros
The benefit of working remotely.
Cons
Horrible culture after purchasing Stuart Olson. Diversity and inclusion is needs work. Employees need unconscious bias training. On-boarding needs work. Not immigrant friendly. Systems require upgrading. Management lacks transparency.

Pros
There is a lot of Autonomy in the projects. People are friendly.
Cons
Corporate continues to make changes not in the support of the projects. Lots of staff working in silos. Management is extremely busy and spread way to thin to properly support the teams.
