      Great hiring process and onboarding!

      Pros

I’m on my 4th week of onboard and from what I can see so far Bazaarvoice is going places. There’s a lot of exciting things going on and they have a lot to offer their clients. The hiring process was great and very timely and personable. I was curious to see how remote onboarding would be but it’s been great and very intuitive. Everyone has been extremely helpful and friendly. I’m very excited to get started and feel really good about taking a chance on Bazaarvoice.

      Cons

Non so far! Seems some areas are having to pivot very quickly due to growth and acquisitions but it’s expected and they’ve been handling it very well.

      Pros

I can count 15 years of experience with Bazaarvoice, as a customer twice, an employee for 8.5 years, and an advisor today. If you apply and join quickly, you'll still be subjected to my video kicking off New Hire Orientation. Bazaarvoice offers its employees one of the world's finest educations regarding eCommerce, SaaS and Brand-Retail dynamics. If you play your cards right, you can meet thousands of the innovators who are building software, opening stores, inventing and marketing consumer products, developing advertising technology and marketing technology solutions. In any regular day, I would learn about critical new product launches, key social media strategies, retail enhancements and the latest and newest marketing technologies. I developed tens of thousands of LinkedIn connections and earned a background in retail that's in demand as a board member, business advisor and academic. Use your time at Bazaarvoice to develop your network and learn this industry - it is endlessly fascinating. Bazaarvoice benefits from clear network and platform effects. The acquisitions under private equity ownership did drive occasionally uncomfortable change, but created a business purpose-built to help brands and retailers work with each other in innovative and new ways around the voice of their customer and consumer generated content across product sampling, social media, and ratings & reviews. As you read the (admittedly challenging) 2018-2020 reviews, you should know that the fears these employees shared were resolved positively, and the business is now in its best financial, operational and team member relations position via any way you can possibly measure. In fact, NFX, a hedge fund that invests exclusively in businesses that have network and platform effects, says 70% of all equity value in the digital era was created by software companies with network effects, and Bazaarvoice is a clear example of this. While Bazaarvoice competes on feature-mapping and speeds-and-feeds with the best of them, it competes on a different level with clear 1+1 = much more value by combining our services and software, allowing content to accelerate across a global network, and much more that makes Bazaarvoice clearly different, clearly better. The people and culture of Bazaarvoice are world-class. From celebrating at Gongs to seeing our team members in offices around the world, connecting with the founding generation through to today's innovators has kept me energized, motivated and connected to the driven employees of Bazaarvoice. The economic opportunities provided by Bazaarvoice helped my colleagues start families, buy houses, invest for their futures, and grow their careers. While Bazaarvoice may not be curing diseases, launching humankind to outer space, or other critical activities, nearly every human being on the planet -- save the true 1% -- work every day for a paycheck. As you bring that money home, ideally you save some and give some, but you will spend most of it on the goods and services you choose to improve the lives of you and your families. Those might as well be the best goods and services for you, which will be different than the best goods and services for another person. Bazaarvoice and its acquired companies uniquely help billion-scale consumers make the best choices with their hard earned money every day, a mission that was motivating to me over many years, ownership changes and business conditions. What Bazaarvoice does matters, especially to families who must make ends meet. When I speak to users of our content, I saw the thankfulness in wasteful spending avoided, while productive and thoughtful commerce was enacted. Private ownership has been extremely good to Bazaarvoice, allowing for strategic transformation that serves every stakeholder in positive ways. CEO Keith and CFO Ken are upstanding, approachable, clear-eyed leaders.

      Cons

Connectivity across such a global company can be difficult unless you invest in meeting team members in other roles and other offices. Critical to your personal satisfaction and career advancement will be reaching out to build relationships - virtual today, in person later - with team members around the globe. Bazaarvoice could do more to leverage its sizable data asset and to develop a fulsome strategy around data. Bazaarvoice could stand to step-up thought leadership regarding how end-users benefit from user generated content and ratings & reviews, such as prior academic partnerships with The Wharton School at Penn. Dedicating budget and team to being masters of our own craft are assets well spent.

Lots of areas for improvement as of recently

      Pros

BV is the clear leader in the space. Product is great and there’s a true need for it. Retailers affirm to their vendors that they need to use our solution Great tech stack. Gong, Salesloft, sales nav, zoom info, etc. Prepandemic culture here is unmatchable. Truly the best culture you’ll ever encounter. Trips to ACL, octoberfests, trivia nights… open door policy and incredible access to leadership. Hasn’t been maintained ever since WFH Had a record may 2020 to may 2021. Business grew insanely and people made great money. Business has hit a brick wall since June 2021 however. Sales management is super smart on call strategy and are genuinely good people. Coworkers are eager to help.

      Cons

Pay is very low compared to market (and quotas arent attainable). Company seems to be facing mass attrition recently. Quotas raised around 150% in the last year. Now no one is hitting quota. Attainment to plan is at SCARY low levels as of the last 2 QTRs so no one is making money. Management is thus putting sales reps in a death grip. There are insane amounts of pressure and little empathy/listening as to reasons why sales might be struggling. There is a problem of micromanagement Culture is almost non existent ever since WFH. Territories aren’t equitable. Just pray you get a good one. Our biggest winning factor/differentiator (our retail network) is dwindling. Every year our competitors chip away at it. SDR training needs serious improvement. Salespeople sell 3 companies worth of solutions (probably like 15 products total) after it’s acquisitions. Enablement of how to sell these newly acquired solutions is very limited. Treated many employees poorly when they gave 2 weeks — almost as if it was a betrayal on a personal level.

Great Place to Work! (So Far)

      Pros

      - PEOPLE. Such a team mentality across all orgs. Everyone is willing to give you their time, answer your questions, and share knowledge. - TRANSPARENCY. Clear expectations, clear guidance, clear goals. Realistic goals, at that. - INTEGRITY. Commitment to evolve where they need improvement, including from a DE&I standpoint. - CULTURE. The BV culture really comes through and is in support of the employees. - LEADERSHIP. The leadership is my org is excellent. They live BV values and communicate effectively and frequently. You know how to succeed because the expectations are clear. Upper level leadership is accessible and there are few to no politics in play preventing you from developing those relationships as well.

      Cons

      - PEOPLE. There are a lot of them. A lot of roles, a lot of departments, a lot of bureaucracy. Thus far, it's been hard to get a handle on how roles are relational and how to be efficient. You can ask a million questions without issue and get help, but org chart clarity needs improvement. - CULTURE. It's hard to propagate culture during a pandemic and with teams working remote. They are doing their best, but I think this will remain a challenge for some time. - ONBOARDING. Again, pandemic related challenge. Everything is on video and it's really hard to retain all of that information when you're going blind from it after 20+ hours. Task lists and videos are well organized, but it is a short amount of time for a lot of information. Comparable companies spend 2x the time on onboarding. My manager is excellent and understanding so it has been manageable, but I don't know how this plays out for different orgs.

      Toxic favouritism, don't risk it

      Pros

Good salary, nice office and casual environment, most employees are very friendly and down to earth

      Cons

Extremely poor management when it comes to professionalism, higher ups will pick their favourites and make things hard for those who aren't part of their inner circle. I ended up leaving after over-hearing an extremely unfair conversation between managers about another employee's mental health. Disgusting. Also witnessed several cases of backstabbing to enable people to further their own career by putting others down. Not worth the drama, would not recommend such a toxic environment.

      Great Experience Onboarding

      Pros

The entire onboarding process has been phenomenal. There is a lot to learn, and it is fast-paced, but the support structure and willingness to help has certainly been felt in my month of onboarding.

      Cons

Not necessarily a con, but there does seem to be a lot of change in systems and processes that can be a bit daunting at the moment. However, being new to the company, I haven't noticed a ton of negativity from the more seasoned team members.
