Pros
It is one of small number of med tech companies in Canada, owned by canadians (well, Indians technically). It is fairly good size and have some number of high impact medical products in the portfolio. If you are fresh from the school it is a nice place to start. Also, most of the production is on site which gives good exposure to various manufacturing technologies and allows for rapid iterations of R&D concepts.
Cons
Lots! If you are a seasoned professional this is really bad place to be. There is a very small number of technically oriented engineers, which are usually overwhelmed by projects. They tend to leave on regular basis. Managers are mostly clueless on technical aspects and generally not good at managing resources. Upper management seems to be living in their own world and typically disjointed from reality. The worst part, upper management has a history of "forcing themselves" into patent applications without contributing to it. Management typically is self centered and do not appreciate talents or extra effort. Career growth is slow, with limited opportunities to grow. They love Yes Men employees and very unfair in promotions. Also, they are very cheap on salaries and benefits and have below Industry average numbers ( for example, one of the production operators received 50C annual increase to the hour rate ...). Dont expect any bonuses.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Baylis Medical Company full-time for more than a year
Pros
Great place for young engineers straight out of university, you'll be able to gain experience and skills in many aspects of medical device development and have opportunities to take on roles that would be only available to senior engineers in larger companies. Also, everything is done onsite, which is rare these days, so you get exposure to all aspects of medical device design and production. There are a lot of great people working here, unfortunately the poor management (both people and project) leads to inefficient product development and disappointing results.
Cons
Many managers/directors/leaders in positions they are unqualified for. Leaders with no people skills or limited technical skills, or both. Inexperienced senior management with no experience outside of Baylis means they are not receptive to new ideas and new ways of doing things that are known to work in other companies. Even when skilled people with great ideas are recruited, they end up leaving quickly. Lack of transparency regarding company performance and big decisions High employee turnover Low salaries Promotions do not come with a competitive salary increase Annual raises below inflation Poor benefits

Pros

Cons
Sometimes you are asked to do more than your paygrade.
