I worked at Bayer full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A very coordinated, efficient and resourceful company with a strong pool of talent to learn from. Lots of internal initiatives to develop and learn about other functions. Great flexible benefits that are workable across all demographics of employees.

    Cons

Efficiencies also means that your pay is less attractive than some of the other pharma companies out there. Their incentive system is now linked to the company as a whole, so individual performance is only linked to whether you keep your job or not.

    Advice to Management

Townhall communication is often "Rosy" and does not tell the full story - need to be more transparent with employees, because we all know what the hardships and market challenges are, and when they are not echoed by management, trust can be lost.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Bayer full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits/drug plan Good pay, but not best Onsite gym, good location, and free parking

    Cons

Culture is declining (I know, been there for a while) New leadership from Germany is young and inexperienced Open office concept is horrible Focused on numbers not people

    Advice to Management

Canada is a unique business. It's employees are Canadian, not German. Don't impose the German style of business on the local people, it's disrespectful and degrading and reminds people of the bad things from the past.

I have been working at Bayer full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They have the best product line on the market. Excellent grower program. I worked at a home office which was a bonus. Salary was good as well as bonus. Freedom to work when you want as long as the work gets done. Plenty of training. Lots of sales and agronomic support. Room for advancement in most positions.

    Cons

Product line is getting big and its hard to be an expert on everything. Some internal procedures such as credit card reconciliation have become time consuming and burdensome. They have added extra staff which is a mixed blessing because in many cases sales staff are competing against each other for the same customer. The company preaches compliance and ethics yet I can provide many examples of management and staff... not practising what they preach.

    Advice to Management

You need to touch base with the people the people at ground level more. Look for ways to make administration easy for front line staff. This will allow them to be selling and growing the company.
