I have been working at Base2 Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of really interesting work, often on genuinely hard problems. More than lip service is paid to work-life balance. Low drama environment with great people who ask "How can I help?," instead of "Why do you want that?"

    Cons

Not a good fit unless you're flexible on the type and location of your work. Most Base2 engineers work at customer's locations, so commutes can vary widely from year to year. Consultancy jobs require getting up to speed rapidly, often across a wide range of technologies; expect to fumble in the dark more than you're use to.

We take a lot of pride in keeping the drama low. Whether in the Base2 office or a customer site, we have found focus and calm is the quickest path to get a project back on track. Consulting isn’t for everyone, and you have accurately captured some of the Pros and Cons. We try to make sure that every recruited individual understands the dynamics before they join Base2. No one wins when an employee is surprised after they start. :-) Thank you for the review.

I have been working at Base2 Solutions full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very good Manager (that I reported to). Good company and very friendly staff (I am talking about week 1). One of the few companies that understand work-life balance. After 4 years at Google, Base2 is on same level for me when it comes to 'how happy every morning thinking about going to work'. Very friendly team members that are always enthu to help you out with any info you need. The industry my project is in (Aero) needs lot of time to ramp up. But, the team support made the ramp up quick and fast and easy.

    Cons

Driving upto client place is the only negative thing. But again, allowing flexible timing by Base2 has made the long slow commute avoidable.

I have been working at Base2 Solutions

    Pros

Once in a while you end up in a place that is so wonderful, you have to wonder what you did in a former life to deserve something so great. This is how I feel about working at Base2. I must have been a saint or something at some time(I'm certainly not now) The Company's priorities are delivering a great product and providing a healthy and happy work environment. This place is not a churn and burn of bodies. There is a great group of people and certainly, there are situations where you have to put in the extra hours, but as a general rule, work/life balance is the philosophy. I am a seasoned professional and have worked in a myriad of industries and companies and this will be my final position. Posted in the hall is a poster that states “People before profits” and the company lives by that philosophy. Everyone benefits from the prosperity of the business.

    Cons

Well the con for me, is not really a con - the company is a wholly owned foreign subsidiary so the reporting is a bit tricky... but not really a con, as they cash

We agree that our employee share of medical costs are high and have been looking into ways of reducing employee costs. Effective 1/1/16, we will be significantly increasing the Base2 employer contribution. We continue to look for ways to provide the most competitive benefits package we can. We thank our employees for the feedback. It ensures that we focus our attention in the right areas.

I have been working at Base2 Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Learn and learn and learn. If you hate getting bored and love being challenged to learn new skills and grow, you will love it here. Work life balance is strongly enforced and flexibility enables you to fulfill your obligations outside of work. At Base2, I enjoy coming to work. I like meetings because I get to learn from my peers, and I'm excited about the work we're doing and the customers we have. I have never seen a leadership team devote so much time and energy into defining, creating and maintaining a strong workplace culture, and it has paid off. We have the best talent, the best customers, and we're growing fast. Being a part of Base2 has been the most rewarding, challenging, and fulfilling experience of my career.

    Cons

Benefits continue to get better each year, but the family health insurance plan costs a lot to the employee. Can be hard to stay connected with employees at different locations.

I have been working at Base2 Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There is always an abundance of challenging work going on and opportunity for growth is widespread. Being a consulting company, there is (almost) always a new exciting project on the horizon. Base2 is happy to support and embrace the exploration and implementation of new technology as long as you have the appetite to learn and own it. The vast majority of folks here are very smart and willing to help tackle the tough problems. Work-life balance is very good for the industry and it is truly a fun place to work with fantastic, supportive coworkers.

    Cons

Not all work is on-site, and there is sometimes a cultural divide between those working in the home office and those out at client sites. Hopefully this will continue to improve as we continue to win more project based work that is executed in-house.

I have been working at Base2 Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Other reviews have captured the great culture, people, and work-life balance. So I thought I'd mention some of the things I've learned since joining Base2: 1) If you hear the word "Panic" in a Base2 project meeting, chances are people are talking about pre-3.10 Linux kernels and not the state of the project. This is especially true if that project uses Docker. 2) When you discover an ancient REST API returns only human-readable strings instead of a JSON object, it is probably time to reevaluate the scope of the project. 3) Docker and VMware and AWS and Azure are not four mutually exclusive solutions. Use the best tools for the client and their project. 4) AngularJS vs. Backbone.js is the great religious debate of our time. Base2 has projects that use both. 5) Aerospace systems engineers make very good quality auditors. 6) The command line tool "curl" is paradoxically one of the best tools to do UI testing. 7) If you accidentally put your test environment's DHCP server on the local LAN, you will receive some gentle ribbing, but that is about it. Despite learning all of these things on the job at Base2, I have never been made to feel that any question is too dumb or not worth asking. Even the most ardent Backbone.js development master will sit down and walk through the hows and whys with the most neophyte tester.

    Cons

Project managers sometimes write meeting notes in "Markdown", which look great in a wiki, but require a cheatsheet for everyone else.

I have been working at Base2 Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Everyone here is very talented and extremely smart. There is a real feeling of cooperation and everyone is willing to help. The company culture is exceptional and they put a lot of energy into keeping people informed about what is going on. Everyone works hard to get the job done and cares about doing a great job for our clients. • Excellent culture, fun and caring people. • Smart and very dedicated co-workers. • Great work-life balance, they actually want you to have a life outside of work.

    Cons

    • They still have some of the growing pains you find at a newer company.

    "Great project. Great team."

I have been working at Base2 Solutions

    Pros

#1 pro: Work Life balance. The company culture really promotes it. Teams are motivated. It's great to be in a company that doesn't feel Darwinist, aka I'm not competing with the other members of my team or other employees. Company events are fun and generally creative.

    Cons

Project teams are isolated from each other. If you are on a good project this is great. If you don't enjoy the project you're on this could be a problem.

I have been working at Base2 Solutions full-time

    Pros

Base2 values not only their employees but their customers as well. Everyone is truly cared about and treated genuinely. They have established a work space that allows for a great work/life balance. Awesome culture- beer in the fridge, tons of snacks, walking treadmill, and many internal/external events.

    Cons

The business of a consulting company makes it so not all employees are in house all the time, which can be hard when trying to get to know everyone at the beginning.
