I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Bain has been the absolute best place to start my career out of undergrad. The firm has an incredibly supportive culture of professional and personal growth (both at and beyond Bain). Across global offices, the company is made up of down to earth, yet very high caliber and talented individuals who love to work and play hard. I've received the best formal and informal business training and Bain has opened doors and set me up to pursue careers in any business field I can imagine. Bain is a truly special and unique company and I feel so lucky to work here.

    Cons

The consulting job has very high upside in terms of training, boosting your career, and compensation. However, the work is challenging, the hours can be long, and you'll be pushed outside of your comfort zone often. It's an incredibly high learning curve and as soon as you feel comfortable, your teams will push you into new responsibilities. This type of work and lifestyle is tough for those who are looking for a sustainable long term career.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - People at Bain are top notch
    - Interesting work
    - Culture is great, without being too overwhelming / in your face
    - Seems to be a real focus on diversity, although more progress is needed
    - You can make it what you want
    - Exit opportunities are exceptional

    Cons

    - As with all project-based work, projects are variable - can get stuck with a bad workstream or project for a couple of months
    - Can get 'stuck' at a certain development level if supervisor isn't focused on your success
    - Pay feels low at times given the number of hours worked

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people, mentors in the system invested in your career growth making the culture at Bain the most coveted. There's an active focus by the leadership on improving sustainability. Great flex options offered by Bain including transfers, externships, leave of absence for 2-6 months etc. There is also an immense global exposure through trainings and transfers. All these factors contribute to making Bain the best management consulting firm to work at!

    Cons

Sustainability can take a hit at times, but there's an active focus on improving this by the leadership.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Rapid professional development
    Super supportive structure and culture
    Awesome coworkers
    Great social scene
    Good compensation and bonuses
Interesting (most of the time) work
Lots of random time off between cases
Constant stream of exit opportunities (daily recruiting e-mails)
Treated like a human instead of a resource

    Cons

    Occasionally terrible hours
    High stress at times
Some projects are not a good time

    Advice to Management

Make sure to keep on eye on preserving culture as the firm continues to grow. Large AC/C start classes are already leading to class fragmentation.

Keep up the intense professional development model, and continue to treat employees like humans instead of resources.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Surely, there are many great companies to work with, and there is much to discover within different industries. This is especially true in a time of disruptive change, when organizations rethink their business models and constantly have to challenge the way in which they create customer value. Being part of such an organization and accompanying it along its journey is definitely a worthwhile career path.

However, in a world that is getting more and more interconnected every day, an interdisciplinary and cooperative approach is key to managing the likewise increasing complexity. Therefore, even better than accompanying one organization along its journey is working with a great range of different organizations from various industries to be able to identify meta level patterns of competitive advantage.

I experienced that working at Bain gives one the opportunity to support top level executives of leading companies, driving their key programs and resolving their toughest problems. Therefore, one can really have an impact that, in hindsight, will be seen as industry-shaping.

Within Bain you can feel the ambition to create value for the customer every single day. More importantly, the pursuit of true results, i.e. sophisticated concepts AND their pragmatic translation into measurable business success, is omnipresent.

What is special about Bain is the great proximity that has been created within its global network. People from all around the world feel deeply connected and work closely together, a precious experience I wouldn't want to miss. Meeting extraordinary people in a rather ordinary frequency makes you sometimes even forget how quickly you learn new things about different places, people, and yourself.

And most astonishing, even if you sometimes work long hours, there are so many occasions and opportunities to enjoy your time, party with friends, and discover the world.

It is a great pleasure to work with Bain and to be part of its global team.

    Cons

It is challenging to keep your work life balance at the optimum

    Advice to Management
