I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Almost all the work I do is obviously important to the Managers and Partners I work with at Bain, and our clients
-The teams I've been on have created positive change, and the work I've done was important to the team's overall effort, even when I was the most junior person on the team
    - The senior folks authentically care about me and my peers. There are a half a dozen people in particular that I've met through my work on different case teams that I could go to for anything - a chat about big picture career stuff, trouble with a supervisor or supervisee, just to catch up.
-There's a lot of formal training, and it's not boring. Most of it has actually made me better at my job at Bain, but it's pretty obvious how it would be helpful to me if I were working somewhere else to (analytics, effective communication in different contexts, how to tackle an ambiguous problem in a structure way, planning work, managing upward, motivating and teaching people that report to you, etc.)
    - Compensation and exit opportunities are great

    Cons

It's client services. Sometimes I work pretty late.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I firmly believe there is nowhere better to start your career than at Bain & Company. The learning is unparalleled, the firm is focused on strong mentorship and support throughout your career, and there are nearly limitless opportunities to make large impact on Bain's clients. Bain's clients are some of the most influential organizations in the world, and working here allows you a front seat view to those organizations' most pressing challenges.

    Cons

The pressure can be immense, and the hours long.

    Advice to Management

The benefits are great, but the pay does not quite match how hard we work.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Bain is an extremely people-oriented place, with a culture of honest feedback in all directions. The focus on professional development here is second to none, and has really helped me grow as a young professional just starting out in the workforce. I have gained so many mentors and friends in just 3 years here, and don't know anyone else who has that kind of culture at their job, in consulting or otherwise.

    Cons

Your experience can vary widely based on the managers you have; luckily, there is pretty good quality control, but sometimes you can end up working with someone who isn't good at prioritizing or has a tough management style. Those cases are always the hardest, and often lack work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that people promoted to leadership (manager, principal, partner) embody all of Bain's principles, and truly care about the team experience. Bain has done an amazing job with teams historically, and I hope that can continue even when the business is really busy.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The apprenticeship model really pushes the junior team members to learn from those above them in a supportive, fast paced manner. As you gain tenure, you are quickly given more responsibility and to be honest, the job changes every month.

    Cons

Work can be demanding and case travel can become a bit burdensome at points, but generally team leadership does its best to manage fluxes in work as much as possible.

    Advice to Management

    Keep investing in junior talent

    Pros

Incredible mentorship (formal & informal); significant client exposure even as junior person on team; an office culture (globally) that fosters collaboration, celebrating success, etc.

    Cons

Hours can sometimes be tough, but there's a strong focus on managing sustainability in a focused, transparent way!

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Fantastic calibre of colleagues: everyone is very hard-working, friendly and down-to-earth
    - Steep learning curve: if you keep up with the work load, you will learn a huge amount and set yourself up for a great career at the firm and beyond. Managers and colleagues often go out of their way to invest time in your development
    - Great global training opportunities across the hierarchy, even for the most junior employees
    - A lot of flexibility with regards to working from home, where projects allow
    - Great technology that supports the consultants and makes life a lot easier (e.g. superb laptops, online collaboration tools, apps)

    Cons

The typical cons to be expected in the industry:
    - Work-life balance highly variable and dependent on team, manager and case
    - Sometimes difficult to keep a healthy lifestyle with regards to diet/exercise, especially with travel-intensive cases
    - Pressure to perform often high (though frequently self-inflicted)

    Advice to Management

Make sure new employees especially are on-boarded effectively and implement some form of incentive scheme or similar for managers/partners to "give new employees a try"
