I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Amazing culture
    - Great exposure to client's most critical problems
    - Highest level of personal development commitment and opportunities
    - Amazing career options (from industry, Funds, etc,)
    - Benefit of not being a huge firm - entrepreneurial, people actually do know each other

    Cons

    - Still a tough job - hours can be long and busy
    - Comp. for expensive, large cities (London, NYC) not very compelling anymore

    Advice to Management

Keep focused on our most valuable assets:
    - our people (continue focused on recruitment and improve comp packages)
    - our culture (true north, collaborative, pragmatic and results oriented)
    - our clients (avoid trap of going after big client names just for the sake of going. work with people that want to do things and drive results)

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I firmly believe there is nowhere better to start your career than at Bain & Company. The learning is unparalleled, the firm is focused on strong mentorship and support throughout your career, and there are nearly limitless opportunities to make large impact on Bain's clients. Bain's clients are some of the most influential organizations in the world, and working here allows you a front seat view to those organizations' most pressing challenges.

    Cons

The pressure can be immense, and the hours long.

    Advice to Management

The benefits are great, but the pay does not quite match how hard we work.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Bain is an extremely people-oriented place, with a culture of honest feedback in all directions. The focus on professional development here is second to none, and has really helped me grow as a young professional just starting out in the workforce. I have gained so many mentors and friends in just 3 years here, and don't know anyone else who has that kind of culture at their job, in consulting or otherwise.

    Cons

Your experience can vary widely based on the managers you have; luckily, there is pretty good quality control, but sometimes you can end up working with someone who isn't good at prioritizing or has a tough management style. Those cases are always the hardest, and often lack work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that people promoted to leadership (manager, principal, partner) embody all of Bain's principles, and truly care about the team experience. Bain has done an amazing job with teams historically, and I hope that can continue even when the business is really busy.

    Pros

Incredible learning experience with access to really interesting work; super talented, yet consistently humble, colleagues; thorough professional development program and great exit options!

    Cons

It can be a bit of a grind; it's difficult work, intellectually rigorous and the hours can be long.

    Advice to Management

Take an even more active role in managing for sustainability; expectations are extremely high (even if self-imposed); management can help reduce the burden on consulting staff by actively engaging in sustainability-focused initiatives

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was always skeptical of people who said they love their job immediately following undergrad, but I truly am passionate about what I do every day. At Bain, I am constantly pushed out of my comfort zone to become the best version of myself possible -- professionally and personally. The support you're given at Bain sets you up for success; I started to develop meaningful mentorships with senior management on Day 1, and know these relationships will carry on throughout my entire career.

    Cons

We work a lot, but that's true of all management consultancies. Bain does everything it can to make it a sustainable experience.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in young talent.
