I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My favorite thing about Bain are the people and the culture. The people there are the reason I am excited to go to work every day, my main motivating factor and my greatest resources for learning and growth. One of my good friends once described the culture as a place where everyone takes their work very seriously but not themselves, and I couldn't agree more. While we work really hard , we also have a ton of fun! Bain continually pushes to create an environment that is extremely open and accepting of all people which is also greatly appreciated. Aside from the people and culture, the thing I value most about Bain is the amount of constant learning and growth I get to experience as a result of both structured and experiential training as well as an intense focus on personal professional development. All of this, combined with providing exceptional results to clients, combines for an unbeatable work experience and the best place I could imagine starting my career (plus the exit opportunities are incredible).

    Cons

Long hours depending on case assignment

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

/ Great company culture - Work is stressful, clients are demanding, but the team makes the difference
/ Pay is very good (at least in Germany)
/ Deep experts in Private equity

    Cons

/ Little diversity in cases (in Germany): Chances to switch cases from one industry to another are very limited (i.e. once you're staffed in banking, chances are your next 2y will be banking cases)
/ Lagging behind massively in digital: very little expertise and case work in projects like developing new, innovative business models or transformative approaches
/ Conservative culture: Very hesitant to try new things, avoid innovation at all costs, and are rather a late-follower than an early adopter (agile working, innovative tools, needs of a digital workforce, etc.)

    Advice to Management

Dare to make bold moves, get a digital strategy and vision

    Pros

Great people, mentors in the system invested in your career growth making the culture at Bain the most coveted. There's an active focus by the leadership on improving sustainability. Great flex options offered by Bain including transfers, externships, leave of absence for 2-6 months etc. There is also an immense global exposure through trainings and transfers. All these factors contribute to making Bain the best management consulting firm to work at!

    Cons

Sustainability can take a hit at times, but there's an active focus on improving this by the leadership.
