    Positive Outlook

I have been working at BNP Paribas full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great employees, free wifi, large cafeteria, great internal mobility opportunities.

    Cons

For a bank of such a scale internationally, the pay is lower than what the competition offers. This leads to some analysts working a lot of overtime to make up for the salary gap. It also leads to a very high turnover as some employees end up leaving after less than two years.

    "Politics"

    1.0

    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at BNP Paribas full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

High salaries to start and good benefits.

    Cons

Comp increases less than cost of living. Managed by New York. Montreal was created by cutting jobs in NY. This created a hostile environment, Directors and MDs in NY wanting to keep their jobs and create a stronger hold on Montreal. Political work environment. It is a laugh when heads from NY come to Montreal give talks and pretend that they are responsible for North America when they really know nothing about it. It is disrespectful and devalues the hard work of those on the ground.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at BNP Paribas full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1) Diverse workforce and initiatives to embrace inclusion 2) A global bank with a global mindset and outreach 3) A competitive benefits package 4) Good location downtown, newly designed offices

    Cons

    1) Very hierarchical and an extremely political environment with colliding egos in management positions due to the fact that most of them come from Head Office's in Paris, Mumbai, London and NYC. 2) Discrimination and unconscious bias still exists inside the bank when it comes to promotions. The selection process is zero transparent, structured and fair with no guidance from HR. 3) No salary increases or lower than inflation. Bonus not as competitive and are based on subjective elements rather than facts in the performance review.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at BNP Paribas full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pension plan has good matching Decent benefits - mortgage interest coverage, gym membership reimbursement, bus/train pass reimbursement

    Cons

Management has taken a hit - used to be able to be more autonomous but there's a lot of finger pointing, over delegating and overt favouritism Critiera to get promoted may be met but if you aren't rubbing shoulders with upper management, forget about it Bonuses are so so (same excuse for smaller bonus pool every year) Salary increase is a joke, doesn't even match inflation
