- 4.0Sept 10, 2023Research AssistantCurrent Employee, more than 3 yearsVancouver, BC
Pros
-If you are fortunate enough to find yourself in a warm and welcoming lab group work is a pleasure - Some benefits - Very nice building and view - 2 weeks payed leave
Cons
- low pay - no parking, waiting list of 3-5years, ironic because the parkade is normally more than half empty every day. - not much community

Cons
Low pay and no room for advancement
- 4.0May 18, 2023Research AssociateCurrent Employee, more than 1 yearVancouver, BC
Pros
The HR is very helpful, the hiring process simple and smooth. They provide training and all the tools to succeed in research. Everybody is driven by an authentic passion for science and the desire to be useful for cancer treatment improvement. Very compassionate people, a lot of competent researchers. Good extended insurance.
Cons
The salary is not competitive with industry salaries, and in an expensive city like Vancouver this can impact the quality of life. Not much possibility of career once becoming staff.
- 3.0Jan 1, 2023Laboratory Research Animal TechnicianCurrent Employee, less than 1 yearVancouver, BC
Pros
Basically unlimited dental coverage, and the location is easy to get to by transit. Benefits start immediately after hire.
Cons
Working in a basement all day with short-notice schedule changes that result in unpaid overtime (where you take hours off from another day instead), due to the nature of the industry, is something not everyone finds acceptable. Not much room to grow as senior staff have been there for a while and they will probably stay in their role. There are a certain number of skills you'll learn and there's only so many skills to learn. In the end, they become variations of the same skills.
