Pros
Lots of smart people working hard, good foundation in certain areas like building ships and tanks. Good work life balance on my team, remote work opportunities.
Cons
Company is still a bit new in some areas like AI, Cyber, definitely still growing those fields. Not easy to collaborate across the different lines of business and even harder to work with those in Europe. Average benefits, 2 week paid parental leave (used to be 0), ok health care, 3 year vesting 75% match on first 6% for 401k. Hard to get promotions, and not a lot of young talent at the company.
Advice to Management
Make information sharing and collaborating easier across the business.

Pros
Mature culture, flexible schedule, innovation friendly, great work-life balance

Anemic holiday schedule (No Veterans Day?!?)
Advice to Management
Veterans generally learn to value time off more than other compensation. Consider a more liberal holiday schedule and PTO accrual rate.

Pros
They encourage and support continuing education and have paid training classes. They seem to value creativity and unique people with specialized insights or abilities. They do try to bring new people into the organization and make everyone feel welcome.
Cons
Entry positions can be difficult finding your place in organization. But that is strongly dependent on skill set. Probably better for those who are very socially outgoing....not so much for the introverted nerdy engineer types. While they try to be inclusive and have training classes in ethics, there is still some underlying racism in some quarters. (I suppose all organizations have some problems in this area.......but at least they are trying and have ways of addressing it). You do have to sort of prove your value to the organization and take pro-active roll. It can be frustrating to find programs to work on. While they do have overhead activities, they strongly encourage employees to get tied to existing programs which may or may not have funding. This does create some anxiety in potential job security. I have only been here a little over a year, but still don't feel comfortable settling down in this area and buying a house. Many people are retiring and there will be some growing pains moving younger people into the business model as the older people are retiring. Some uncertainty about forward looking job titles and place in organization which also might be dependent on National Politics and Defense spending.

This might not be a totally fair assessment coming from someone with a little over a years experience, but maybe have a review process for those who have been on overhead activities for a few months. Job security is important and utilizing people's skill sets effectively for current and/or future programs will help make for happy secure feelings among employees. It is great to have training opportunities, but ... having a good feeling of purposeful business activities to grow the company and feeling a part of such activities is important for employee moral.
