I worked at Avigilon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice coworkers and Ed a good location when downtown .

    Cons

Holy hell. So much turnover , in order management - you get written up for every mistake and if you don’t do overtime. Manager and team lead have no idea how to do the job . They get other people to train and write up processes.

    Advice to Management

    Fire them for goodness sakes!

I have been working at Avigilon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Talented skilled co-workers in non-executive positions to work with

    Cons

Senior team manifest a culture of fear and blame which tends to cascade down to people on the floor doing work. Not a constructive environment especially in operations where most people seem scared and unhappy.

    Advice to Management

    Improve the negative culture

I worked at Avigilon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Bad Management - old school - divide and rule style leadership from the top to down.

    Cons

Stay away from Avigilon if you are smart and outspoken person.

    Advice to Management

Motorola should start modernizing upper management

I worked at Avigilon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good product lines. Fast paced environment. Good benefit.

    Cons

Both manager and team lead are incompetent. Not only do they not understand how to properly delegate work, but they also bully most team members. They force people working over time constantly. There is no work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Both manager and team lead need to be fired.

I worked at Avigilon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Technology base, great sector, dynamic environment, nothing staying the same for long! good salary

    Cons

Too much hierarchy, management hard to reach, your not influential even in your own field of expertise, tech direction is forced down from top and enforced badly, so lots of tech debt piling up, engineering teams are forced to do features even though not enough time for them, so bugs and issues are never truly resolved, only hidden or pushed to next releases! have lost most of original developers, so any major change has shaky ground since practically no one knows the whole code base which is huge by the way, very high turn around rate, specially talented ones!

I have been working at Avigilon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Avigilon is a great place for people who respond well to fast-paced environments and who want to feel an impact in what they do. You may be asked to do more than your job description entails, which is a privilege, a sign of trust, and an opportunity to prove your skills and worth. If you're seeking a job in a stagnant environment with repetitive processes and silo mentality just to pass your time, then this may not be the place for you.

With the recent acquisition by Motorola, the company continues to grow, while certain teams invest additional time in seeking answers and cementing new processes. This is part of any M&A, and is meaningful for those who want to be part of a team that is building something new.

Pros (I can only speak for corporate office):
    - Fast-moving, many opportunities to learn and grow
    - Good Department Heads and Executives
    - Fantastic Office (Vancouver Headquarters)

    Cons

    - Not enough communication
    - Not enough personal development initiatives (e.g., no leadership development workshops)

    Advice to Management

    - Provide training on policies and procedures to first time supervisors / leaders
    - Focus on people / soft skill development
