I have been working at Analysis Group for less than a year

    Pros

Allows (and requires) you to use skills beyond economics - you need to be able to write, think critically, learn new subjects quickly, pay close attention to detail, work in teams, manage others, take and give criticism effectively.

    Cons

Long hours sometimes. The informal work allocation system can be disorienting and lead to big swings in work load.

    Pros

Office is nice and gives $30 reimbursement for dinner when they want you to stay super late oh well. Treats you pretty well in the first couple of days.

    Cons

Long hours and often gives extremely short notice for tasks that need to be done. The management doesn’t give any feedback for analysts at all. Even if they do, they will just say “all the things that I heard are positive - no need to change anything”. Then at the end of period, they stabbed you on your back. As an analyst, basically you cannot point out other people’s mistakes or give constructive feedback for the company for improvement. The management or even the senior analysts would assume that they are always right. Even within the analyst community, there are some people that are just mean because they have been with the company longer than you. Literally the company culture is what kills people and makes them want to leave only after a year within the firm.

I worked at Analysis Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some nice people and good benefits

    Cons

Management often doesn't care about well-being of analysts, high turn over, long hours that could be avoided with better management, lack of work life balance, and disregard for professional growth

I have been working at Analysis Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fresh out of college, you are given the freedom to manage your own work. Brilliant managers. Friendly atmosphere. Training opportunities in Stata, SAS, python, R, excel, and more.

    Cons

While most weeks are ~50 hours, you will work long hours during case filings (upwards of 100 possibly in the week leading up to filing) so you should just understand what your getting yourself into. In order to move from senior analyst to associate, you need a graduate degree (MBA or phd generally) so you will generally have to leave the firm after 3-5 years to pursue more schooling.
