I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great work environment and job satisfaction as you know you are really helping someone. You learn the ins and outs of the pharmaceutical industry.

    Cons

People are promote because of their connections not qualifications. Lots of micromanaging, no flexibility for employees to work from home.

    Advice to Management

Promote talent from within, people who have worked there should be given an interview. Candidates should not be presented because they know someone but based on their qualifications.

I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people. Before all the changes, the health benefits were fantastic.

    Cons

At one time, I wouldn't have anything to list. The specialty group was great, with only minimal things to improve on and those were always addressed each year with an employee engagement survey. The company used to have a laid back family type feel to it before ABC wholesale and specialty groups were combined for process efficiencies. After that point things were chaotic, benefits changed, management was... replaced with non-people managers, good people were cut (those great people who made going to work enjoyable), workloads increased, communication stopped, etc.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and they will take care of you. During a transition, it is crucial to ensure that change management leaders are in key positions to manage people and processes through the change. Results managers get results, but morale suffers significantly.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people are terrific and really passionate about the work. Benefits are decent. Supports a work from home situation and flexible hours (see work-life balance in Cons)

    Cons

Work life balance is abysmal. The company purpose is about creating healthier futures, but that seems to apply to everyone except its own employees. At least some managers support virtual work and flexible schedules, but that's a bone they throw since salaried employees could easily be working 50-60 hours per week.

    Advice to Management

Stop with the lip service. If you really want to put your employees first, create an environment where they can have meaningful work-life balance.
