"I am an Underwriter for Disability Insurance"
StarStarStarStarStarI have been working at AmTrust Financial full-time for more than 10 years
Pros
The company covers a variety of Insurance lines of business, such as Disability,Workers Comp,General Liability,Property & Casualty
Cons
The company needs to devote more resources to their IT/Computer operations
Advice to Management
I would like to see more resources in the area of IT. It typically takes a long time to make even minimal updates/fixes to the mainframe software to facilitate workers being able to work more efficiently. I feel they should hire more quality IT people

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at AmTrust Financial full-time for less than a year
Pros
They are identifying and fixing internal issues, business issues, and cultural and process issues Management cares and are trying to drive appropriate changes Flexible schedule Holiday schedule Good pay Stipends for parking/transit/on call
Cons
It's gone through a lot of growth recently and the company is trying to find it's footing Extremely limited WFH 401k matching Downtown
Advice to Management
Continue driving cultural and process changes. Make sure the middle management and teams understand the goals and roadmaps. Publish this information internally more often with the goals and where we are. Help people see the bigger picture of where you want the company to go. 401k matching could be a little more competitive with peers.

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo opinion of CEOI have been working at AmTrust Financial full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Really relaxed environment, wore jeans daily. I loved every aspect of this place other than the lack of growth and a respectable salary. Managers are easy to approach and really care about you as a person. The people are great and again, loved every moment. Work wise, you may end up doing some of the same things over n over again but the Dallas office is big on cross training and being the jack of all trades so to... speak. Not a bad place to get in the door and progress to better roles after 2-4 years.
Show More;Cons
Growth and salary. At least for me, it was not challenging enough and became boring after a while. For others, it may be that simple job that gets you a simple paycheck.
Advice to Management
They tried to do good things but the company got in their way. Lots of good people were let go.
