    Corporate machine with all of the processes and tools at your disposal.

    Cons

    Management that doesn't let you operate independently as advertised. Token support - very little genuine help.

    Pros

    Brand name. Commission structure is generous starting as a new scratch agent, however that only works if Home & Auto product lines are competitive.

    Cons

    Brand name does not make the phone ring. Too many agencies -- market is saturated with Allstate startups; therefore competition is challenging. Bonus structure changed yearly and often was not shared until near the end of the first quarter. Margins are low if your prospect via advertising; need centers of influence. Marketing Reps are little help. Best resource will be other Exclusive Agents.

    Strong national brand, big product offering including investments, company benefits for your customers along with protection for personal risks.

    Cons

    When the company has pricing concerns it can be difficult to add polices in the core home and auto business.

    Pros

    Great support. Field sales leaders are constantly checking in based on your needs. If you don't need them they won't bother you. The company tries to create a community with the agents which is also helpful. Other agents are always willing to talk shop so you can get new sales and strategy ideas. You create your own hours and run your own business. Great bonuses if you can achieve them.

    Cons

    Expensive up front investment. Your business is subject to the ebbs and flows of the market (rates) so you do have times where you need to hunker down and your growth will slow down. You're an independent contractor so there are no benefits, though Allstate does offer some more affordable packages for their agents to purchase.

    The corporate brand is a household name making first contact with cold calls extremely easy. The corporate team is there to help you grow if you use them for what they are there for - support.
