    Pros

Service users and fellow staff are great

    Cons

Shocking higher management. Dont give a damn about the staff or service users as long as they make money.
No 1-1 care given to the people who matter..the service users, just paperwork, paperwork, paperwork
Shocking money and a care less attitude

    Advice to Management

Start thinking of the service users and staff instead of sat on your backsides thinking of ways to make money

I worked at Action on Hearing Loss full-time

    Pros

Everyone is very friendly, helpful and approachable at all levels. 25 days holiday, scarily good sickness policy (sadly may invite some to take advantage). Working for a great cause

    Cons

Poor communication between departments. Lack of awareness of what needs to change internally for things to improve.

    Advice to Management

Be more supportive, especially when it is most needed.

I worked at Action on Hearing Loss part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked in one of the best teams at AoHL. I understand every directorate is different so others may have had difference experiences but I had one of the best working experience - flexible working, supportive team members and leaders, great work-life balance.

    Cons

Different directorates/teams dont always talk to each other leading to last minute requests.

    Pros

Lots of friendly people, good salary,

    Cons

Poor focus on outcomes. Too much of a 'peronality' led organisation, inward looking. Risk adverse.

    Advice to Management

Put Deaf and Hard of Hearing people at centre of work. Don't tell them or your workforce. Listen to shape and build services.

    Pros

Colleagues were great and worked so hard despite appalling leadership and low pay of those doing such a lot of good work. . The Volunteers were also excellent, very caring and hard working.

    Cons

Awful manager who frequently turned up hungover, was incredibly lazy, gave no direction, was dishonest and bullied several staff. Could never be trusted and misrepresented staff upwards to SMT to cover own back.

    Advice to Management

Trustees should look long and hard at SMT and their salaries and realistically assess what they and heads of department sactually deliver. Obscene waste of charity money.

    Pros

This is a huge charity working on lots of different things. Plenty of scope to try/learn new things. My sign language has improved a lot and I've met some amazing and inspiring people.

The CEO is fantastic and genuinely cares about people. He is kind and approachable.

Its a very supportive environment in the office and people genuinely care about each other.

Very interesting subject matter and noble purpose.

    Cons

The charity is so diverse the communication and understanding between teams isn't great.

    Advice to Management

Employ more deaf and hard of hearing people, create opportunities for young people to come and get experience.
