Incredibly talented & smart people Opportunity to work on big global brands Amazing heads of department Much better at innovative work than their industry reputation

    Cons

Management who don't understand how to create change Terrible CEO always complaining about how tired she is to the whole company Not a fun working environment - everyone takes everything very seriously V poor on diversity... initiates to try and change a few years ago, but most new hires have now left the business, finding it quite a hostile place to work

    Pros

    - Good exposure to a variety of clients - **Some** good people. - Good office location

    Cons

    - Terrible treatment of staff. Senior management discusses the importance of mental health yet further down the chain everyone is working non-stop pitches, late nights, and weekends. - Poor pay (but classed as industry-standard, how about changing the standard and paying people better?) - No incentive to go above and beyond except for fear of being made redundant. Barely even given a "thank you". In order to receive anything more than that, you need to be in with the right people. - VERY cliquey. Not welcoming at all. - No diversity. There is about 4 POC. - VERY traditional still, nobody understands the social demand from the world. They still put all their time, talent and money into TVCs for specific clients. - There's been no effort to look after staff over the covid pandemic. Everyone was given a minuscule Christmas bonus which doesn't make up for the poor treatment and the fact people are paying more money on electricity, water, etc now they are WFH. - Senior management is very rude and doesn't respect people lower in the chain. Again, you need to get in with them to try and progress. - No/slow progression. Many people get interested in moving departments and get strung along with empty promises that it will happen 'one day'. - Often heard/dealt with racism, homophobic, sexism in the office.

A Firm Where ‘Playing the Game’ and Having a Face that Fits is Essential

    Pros

The jobs are sought-after. You meet lots of talented and creative contacts. The offices are very sophisticated and grand.

    Cons

My team were so up themselves and would regularly show off in front of one-another with conduct I considered petty and underhand. Behaviour I felt alluded to bullying and slander (traits that would ordinarily be escalated to a tribunal in many workplaces) appear to be rife and seen as the norm at AMV BBDO; these qualities were just a few of things I experienced from many during my brief stint at the London advertising firm. If your face doesn’t fit your cliquey colleagues will make sure you know you know about it. I have never felt so singled out and violated since being in school but thankfully it made me appreciate my current workplace. What I thought would be an exciting insight into the world of advertising and creative excellence turned out to be a sad and stark reminder that in this day and age diversity and inclusion isn’t something that is embedded into the ethos of every workplace. If you value your pride and like to treat all walks of life with fairness and respect please avoid working here.
