I recently received an offer from Microsoft for a Program manager internship. I just found out that it wasn't at the location (local) i intended it to be and I have to relocate to Seattle. This really doesn't work out for my logistically and I was wondering if its possible to somehow switch it to a remote position. Please let me know if anyone has been in this situation before id greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Just reach out to your recruiter and inform them of it. You should also have a Microsoft business contact as well.

Hi all! Microsoft says that employees can work from home 50% of the time. Any Microsoft employees here that could share how that looks in reality? Can you spend more time working from home and do you have the option to work from “anywhere” for a certain period of time?

Depends on role/location- I had my workplace changed to 100% home last year, but…my team is having a meeting to agree hybrid work plan in a couple of weeks. Some roles can certainly be almost 100%, I’ve spent about 3 days in the office in the last 2 years.

This is purely based out of curiosity, but are employees at Microsoft allowed to use Macs? I’m sure apple doesn’t allow otherwise.

Microsoft has IOS Developer positions that require Swift experience which is a programming language developed by Apple. I'm pretty sure you kinda need a Mac to build a mobile app for IOS? A lot of big companies use Macs for mobile app development so not sure how you would get around IOS dev without a MacBook.

Never hurt to apply. But at the same time expect lots of competition because those laid off workers are also applying for open roles internally

I’m interviewing for a program manager role at Microsoft and the salary feels low. I have 8 years experience and this is for an IC3 role. Does anyone have insight on what the typical salary is for a PM2? I live in Chicago. Thanks!

Is Microsoft really slow on onboarding, recruiting process and visa transfers? It’s been over a month I accepted the offer. My excitement for new job is just going down the drain. Really irritated with the process!

It is, it took around 4 weeks to get the background check completed for me, no Visa transfer, but for you it may be more time considering the Visa transfer part.

When you are interviewing in competitive companies, anything you can do to make a positive impression will be beneficial. Thank you notes may be old school but they can be seen as a token of respect to sone people and part of the professional exchange. Also in real life if you are are building a partnership with a client, stakeholder, or in sakes/marketing/client services, you would totally send a follow up email, so why would this be different?
