John is a media industry entrepreneur, growing his family’s small cable business into one of the 10 largest distributors in the country before founding and building theScore Television Network to become a leader in authentic and interactive sports entertainment, providing sports news, highlights and live games to more than 6.6 million homes in Canada. In October 2012, John and his team structured and executed the sale of Score Media’s television assets to Rogers Media and the spin-out of Score Media’s digital assets into a new entity – theScore, Inc. This allowed John and his team to focus 100% on growing theScore’s hugely popular mobile platforms, including its flagship app ‘theScore,’ one of the most popular sports apps in North America.

Benjie Levy

President & Chief Operating Officer

 Benjie oversees the development and  execution of theScore’s business strategy and  has been instrumental in shaping its digital  media offerings, including the creation and  launch of theScore’s mobile apps. A graduate  of the University of Toronto with a B.Com  specializing in Finance, Benjie began his  career as an investment banker in the  Communications and Media group at BMO  Nesbitt Burns in Toronto, prior to joining  theScore in 2001.

Tom Hearne

Chief Financial Officer

Tom is responsible overseeing theScore’s financial performance, identifying trends and opportunities to further drive the growth of the business. He joined theScore in 2008, having previously served as CFO for multiple Canadian hi-tech companies where he completed four IPO's, 10 financings with more $400 million raised, and eight M&A transactions. With more than 20 years of financial management and advisory experience, Tom is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business and a Bachelor of Economics degree from Trent University.

    I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at theScore (Toronto, ON) in January 2018.


    The phone interview was quite lovely and the woman I spoke to was easy to talk to, informative, and overall the most pleasant part of the experience. It pretty much ends there. I was brought it for an in-person interview, and the interviewer seemed completely uninterested in my experience or work ethic - rather he wanted to talk about how great the company was compared to it's competitors and why I liked them better. Basically they want you to tell them they are doing a better job. We didn't really click and I was completely happy to leave knowing that it wasn't a good fit for me. However, at the end of the interview, I was given a lengthy assignment to complete on a tight deadline. This was confusing considering how poorly I thought the interview had gone. I completed the assignment because I committed to seeing the process through, even though I no longer was interested in the position. About a week later I got a generic message from HR saying thanks but no thanks. The hiring manager didn't even have the decency to acknowledge my efforts or give me any feedback. I do think assignments are a great way to prove yourself, but I was disappointed by the lack of communication and respect shown to me throughout the entire process. I know the company has experienced a lot of turnover and they want to ensure you are up to the task, but this was a bit extreme. Due to the length of the assignment and the time commitment required, I was incredibly disheartened the hiring manager passed me off to HR and never communicated with me again.
