I worked at Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health full-time (More than a year)
The pro of working here is that they pay you. That is where the benefit ends. The health coverage pays for 3 therapy sessions, even if one of your clients dies.
If you want to be abused, sexually harassed, and threatened by management on a daily basis, you'll like it here with all the othet sociopaths.
Working here is a nightmare. Everyone quits or is fired within a year. It's rare for people to last more than six months.
If you're sick or injured or experience trauma they will show absolutely zero empathy. Staff are expected to find coverage for their programs even if they are laying in a hospital bed.
I hope this place gets shut down. It's corrupt from the inside out and it's laughable that they continue to get funding when worthwhile programs are being shut down.
Advice to Management
None of these people should be in positions of power. My advice would be to not use frontline staff as punching bags for your sadistic power trips. Also, you should probably stop using money given to programs to buy accessories for your offices while telling us there is no money in the budget.
