I have been working at Updater full-time (More than a year)
- Autonomy. Every employee is trusted and empowered to make a difference. It's so encouraging to work at an organization who values everyone's thoughts and opinions, regardless of job title. I feel extremely fulfilled by my work on a daily basis.
- Phenomenal People team that goes above and beyond to make the experience at work unlike any company I've ever been at. I truly feel that the company _cares_ for its employees and is not just paying lip service to the word. In the world of tech, it's common to see companies to get carried away with frivolous spending. Updater is thoughtful about where they invest their time, energy, and resources to make the employee experience unparalleled without being overly extravagant.
- Transparency from senior leadership. Leadership reports out to the company on all relevant happenings on a weekly basis. I ALWAYS know where the company is at, where we're going, and why decisions were made.
- Things move very quickly. We're trying to become THE platform that everyone uses to accomplish all tasks associated with their move. There's a lot of work to be done and a ton of energy and excitement around the office to continually execute at a high level. This type of environment isn't for everyone. Not really a negative for me, but I could see how it could be for some folks. Personally, I seek out these types of environments.
Advice to Management
Keep up the transparency! It's so valuable for the entire company to be on the same page. When we all move in lock-step, our output and productivity is maximized. Don't let that fade as we continue to grow and scale!
Easy interview, I met with their marketing head as well as one of their leads. We discussed my experience and they then sent me an example piece of metadata for me to edit to make it search engine optimized.
