  • Including gradual transitions, a lifestyle spending account and more, we strive to provide the best parental leave possible for both mothers and fathers. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMCGw

6 Companies Redefining Parental Leave - Glassdoor Blog

It's no surprise that offering strong parental support to both mothers and fathers can positively impact one's family life, but also drive business results as an organization. Yet in 2019, paid parental leave is only available to about 13% of working Americans in the private sector, and only available to 7%-8% percent of workers in service and maintenance jobs.

  • At Tucows, we allow learners to take courses and earn points that are typically traded in for company swag. In November, we let our learners convert their points into trees to support the recent #teamtrees initiative of planting 20 million trees by 2020. We planted 100+ trees! CSR initiatives don't need to be massive to still be impactful. Here is an article I wrote on "Corporate Social Responsibility: Why Employees Expect You to Give Back" https://www.glassdoor.ca/employers/blog/corporate-social-responsibility-why-employees-expect-you-to-give-back/

Corporate Social Responsibility: Why Employees Expect You to Give Back - Glassdoor for Employers

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in business means operating in a way that enhances society, rather than solely focusing on increasing profits and revenue. In a recent about CSR, Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, wrote, "It's time for a new capitalism - a more fair, equal and sustainable capitalism that actually works for everyone and where businesses, including tech companies, don't just take from society but truly give back and have a positive impact."

Tucows – Why Work With Us?

Tucows started in 1993 by changing not just how people connected to the Internet but also who could get online.

We have offices across the globe in the US, Canada, Europe and Southeast Asia. Our team members work one or several of our brands which span domains names, fiber Internet and mobile phone service.

We bring the principles of net neutrality to everything we do and do more every day with who we are. We are the sum total of our efforts. Everything we build, make and do is on the Internet but that’s not the only reason we think the Internet is important.

workplace culture

At Tucows, you’ll work in a relaxed, laid back environment packed with people who are passionate about being part of unlocking the power of the Internet. We know you'll love coming into work but we empower our employees to make their own decisions and manage their time accordingly. Enjoy a true work-life balance with a flexible schedule and the option to work from home. Employees without a defined weekly schedule can find the time that works for them to begin and end their workday. Need to drop the kids off at daycare early? Cool. Want to stay late to accommodate dinner plans? No problem.

At all our locations - and we have many spread across the globe from Canada to the US, to Europe - there is no dress code in effect. You’re free to come to work in as you feel comfortable. We know your outfit doesn't impact your quality of work, so please be comfortably yourself here.

We are looking for people who believe in the endless possibilities of the Internet. We are involved in many exciting verticals that are key to the infrastructure of the Internet we all know and love: domains, fiber, and mobile. We want people who are looking to grow their careers and, in turn, we invest in your personal growth. We have grown to well over 600 employees and over 130 of them have been with us for over 5 years.

Feel like joining the herd is for you? Submit an application to any of our available positions. We can't wait to hear from you!

We know people work best when they’re healthy, happy and motivated.

That’s why we prioritize real work/life balance at Tucows and put wellness first. Make your own schedule with flexible hours and work from home days. Enjoy monthly catered lunches in-office as well as healthy snacks every afternoon.

We have leading benefits packages, educational opportunities, parental leave top-up, work perks and more. We want to see our people thrive in their roles so we host massage days, mental health workshops as well as women’s leadership and diversity speakers in office. Our benefits package includes flexible Lifestyle Spending dollars to go towards wellness purchases our employees choose. This can cover anything from bike repairs to a new mattress to sneakers and vitamins.

People make the place, so we make sure to invest in our people. We’re different from other tech companies. We believe in individuality. We’re a diverse team where people from all generations work together under one roof. We celebrate our differences as well as what we have in common.

Here at Tucows, we offer a lot of perks. Each office has many of its own unique extras but you can pretty much count on the following:

Health and lifestyle

A comprehensive, inclusive, and flexible benefits program with a focus on health, personal development, and overall wellness.

Balance

We support the people that help build our shared success as they define what work/life balance means to them.

Vacation

Get plenty of vacation days that you’re encouraged to use and enough personal time to deal with life stuff as it comes up.

Education

In-house education opportunities plus a learning fund to expand your education and attend interesting conferences.

Inclusion

Be your best you at work and aside from that, you don’t have to be anything at all. Tucows is an equal opportunity employer.

Investment

We share the wealth with options on our ever-improving stock position and other opportunities to invest in your work.

Family first

Maternity, paternity, and adoption leave for new parents and the opportunity to work from home when it makes sense.

Future planning

RRSP and 401(k) matching so you can think about other things today while still saving for tomorrow.

Coffee, tea and snacks

You’ll find no shortage of stuff to keep you going at work. Coffee, tea, fresh fruit, snacks, and other treats.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tucows (Toronto, ON).

    Interview

Interviewed with my future manager and tech lead. Incredibly rude and condescending. Asked me questions on how to do things and was on such a high horse, nit picking my answers constantly and making me feel like an idiot.

I've worked in the past with huge brands on websites, so I do have a sense of what I'm doing.

Could tell they'd be absolutely miserable to work for. Decided not to continue the interview.
