    Difficult Interview

I applied online. I interviewed at Trulioo.

The assignment they want you to complete is flat out ridiculous.

There's a new trend among companies in Vancouver where a resume, portfolio, and references are no longer enough, they have you do assignments as part of the process now which would be fine if it wasn't a thinly veiled attempt at getting free work.

The assignment I was given was to analyze their website for top potential ranking keywords they could run SEM campaigns for. They wanted me to do something like 5 - 10 campaigns with strategy, copy, and target keywords. That was just the first part of the assignment, the second part was analyzing their current GAds instance and pointing out how I'd make improvements.

This was the second round of the interview as well and they wouldn't match my current salary (which is market rate according to glassdoor).

I currently work for an agency and we charge hundreds of dollars to do this kind of consultation for a company while Trulioo expects you to complete this upfront as part of the interview process.

I don't think many people on their current team understand digital marketing which is probably why they thought this was an acceptable assignment but I hope they see this and understand that it's really not.
