    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Retail Zipline full-time

    Pros

    - Product is much loved in the industry
    - Leadership listens and takes feedback seriously
    - Remote-first mindset helps align everyone on how we work best as a team
    - Flexibility. Get your work done on your hours
    - The team does a good job at helping us feel connected
    - Competitive pay and benefits
    - Career opportunities as we scale and grow
    - Company is open to ideas and experimentation

    Cons

    - Occasionally, it seems like we hire for another body to do work, rather than taking a step back and determining if they are a good fit for the company
    - Leadership alignment isn't always there. It's clear when decisions are made without consulting cross-functionally.

    Advice to Management

More alignment and transparency around why we make (or don't make) decisions to help teams rally around our goals, and keep hiring the great people.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Retail Zipline in March 2018.

    Interview

Interviewed with one of the co-founders. He was very straightforward - from the beginning he made it clear that I didn't have the experience they were looking for, but they thought I was an "interesting" candidate, so they were willing to give me a shot. He continued with that straightforward/blunt manner (but was kind about it) so if that's not something you handle well, keep that in mind when thinking about who you'll be working with. I did like that they didn't dismiss me immediately - it shows to me that they realize there is more to a potential employee than just what is seen on the resume.

    Interview Questions

    • In keeping with the straightforwardness, after explaining to me why they probably wouldn't hire me, he asked me, "Do you have anything to say that can change my mind?"   Answer Question
