PwC – Why Work For Us?

From empowering mentorships to customized coaching, PwC provides you with the support you need to help you develop your career. You’ll work with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to solve important problems. Are you ready to grow?

Our professional services include audit and assurance, tax, deals and consulting. At PwC, we help resolve complex issues and identify opportunities across these industries.

Together our purpose, values and vision come to life every day and with our people form our culture. We work together to make sure we continuously:

  • Invest in new products and services
  • Meet challenges and turn them into opportunities
  • Attract and develop talent that anticipates changing needs

Our network's purpose and values are an intrinsic part of our day-to-day lives—whether it's reimagining the possible for our clients through creative thinking or volunteering for causes to show our communities we care. At PwC we come together to drive innovation, add value and generate growth.

Our culture is collaborative, people-focused and innovative. We “went Google” to give our people tools that enable collaboration and promote flexible working environments. Speaking of flexibility, Our dress code encourages our people to show off their personal style—whether dressing up or down depending on what’s happening in a given day. We thrive on innovation and all the great ideas our people bring to the table. We’re a team that takes pride in who we are together as well as who we are as individuals. We have fun together, celebrate our success together and give back to our community together.

At PwC, we are committed to developing leaders at all levels who have the skills, opportunities and confidence to be unique leaders in our increasingly diverse, complex and interconnected world. Our values and distinctive leadership framework, called the PwC Professional, provides a clear pathway for our ways of working and your progression as a purpose-led and values-driven leader.

Developing as a PwC Professional means that you will be ready to create and embrace opportunities to advance your career, and fulfill your potential.

PwC Professional

The PwC Professional is our global development and career progression framework, designed to help us develop the skills and capabilities we all need to deliver on our business strategy and bring value to our clients, our people and our communities. There are five dimensions to the framework:

  • Relationships
  • Global acumen
  • Whole leadership
  • Technical capabilities
  • Business acumen

We look for these attributes in our new hires and encourage our employees to continuously develop all these capabilities.

Learn more about the PwC Professional.

Enhanced Working Practices

A key element of developing as a PwC Professional is our award-winning approach to on-the-job coaching—Enhanced Working PracticesTM(EWPTM). EWPTM enables you to develop yourself and others on the job, every day. At the heart of our EWPTM approach is the concept of “teach, don't tell”—using open-ended questions that teach our people to think and learn—supported by five on-the-job routines:

  • Shadowing
  • Lessons learned
  • Team workshops
  • Rounds and observation
  • Feedback

Learning

At PwC, we develop as PwC Professionals through a combination of learning on the job, formal learning and learning from others. This development approach makes our people architects of their own careers.

Coaching

We want you to achieve your full potential, and that's why our culture focuses on coaching to support and accelerate your development and build relationships where you can share, connect and learn from one another. You'll be assigned a coach on day one to help you develop your skills, diversify your experiences and achieve your career aspirations. Coaching strengthens PwC, one conversation at a time, and is an integral part of how we do things.

At PwC we believe in a flexible approach to benefits and the way we work, because everyone has different needs and we want to give our people what makes sense for their lives.

Flexibility

PwC is the place where you'll experience opportunities to work flexibly in a culture that supports your personal and professional interests. Flexibility means different things to different people, so we created myLife to support and encourage greater flexibility. And we “went Google” to support collaboration and working remotely.

Wellbeing & Lifestyle Benefit

We care about you focusing on your personal wellness. That's why we provide you with the flexibility to maintain a healthy lifestyle with our Wellbeing and Lifestyle benefit that you can use for anything that will help you improve your overall sense of personal well-being covering mind, body and soul.

Investments

We recognize that saving for the future is an important part of personal financial planning. The firm helps you save for your retirement and other personal financial goals by sponsoring the investments pension and savings plans. The focus is on flexibility, tax effectiveness and convenience.

WorkPerks

With PwC, you and your family members have opportunities to access more than 1,100 unique savings programs from brand name companies to smaller shops. The savings include everything from tickets, to dining, to shoes, to travel—and the opportunities are constantly growing, with new perks being added all the time.

Performance Pay

Aligning performance and rewards with our business strategy is key to building our high performance culture. The performance pay plan is designed to enable eligible staff to share in the financial growth of PwC and to reward exceptional efforts and contributions.

Long Service Awards

Recognizing and rewarding the commitment and loyalty you’ve shown to PwC over the years is important to the firm. Eligible staff members are recognized at five-year intervals, starting at five years of service.

Staff Appreciation Days

To recognize and show appreciation to all of our people by providing them with more ways to achieve flexibility everyday, all eligible staff are entitled to two “Staff Appreciation” days annually - over and above annual vacation entitlement and statutory/personal floater days.

Diversity and inclusion at PwC

At PwC, diversity and inclusion is a priority because we need the best available talent to create value for our clients, people and communities. We hire and nurture professionals with a variety of approaches to problem solving who are willing to challenge the status quo, who think differently from one another and who come from many different backgrounds and cultures. To solve important problems we need to be inclusive of our diverse talent and use the power of our differences to achieve our goals.

We celebrate and encourage diversity in many ways, including with some internal people networks:

  • Black Professionals
  • Early Career Professionals
  • Ex-Military
  • GLEE (Gay, Lesbian and Everyone Else)
  • Latin Connection
  • Women UpFront
  • South Asian Business Network
  • Disability, Abilities and Wellness Network (DAWN)

Valuing Differences

To move the dial on diversity at PwC we want to focus on valuing differences in the broadest sense. We encourage everyone at PwC and our clients to be open-minded to the value that different skills, experiences and perspectives add to our business. The greatest barrier relates to the natural tendency we all have to gravitate to people like ourselves— often people with the same experiences and perspectives.

Reducing unconscious bias creates a more fair and inclusive environment. To help our people better understand their unconscious biases and move from understanding to action by becoming inclusion champions, we offer a wide range of tools including:

  • Our award-winning online training on open-mindedness

Women in Leadership

Women in Leadership (WiL) is an internal career development program focused on providing insights, tools, networks and experiences that facilitate the personal and professional growth and aspirations of our diverse, female talent.

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took a week. I interviewed at PwC (Toronto, ON) in November-2018.

    Interview

Recruiter contacted me and after brief discussion set me up with an interview. Interview was very short (around 10 minutes), questions asked were standard questions like "tell me about yourself" and "please elaborate on your experience in job xyz," no technical questions were asked.
