I have been working at Pacific Blue Cross full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

From the very first interview, I was greeted with friendly and welcoming interviewer, and that carried over to day 1, first week and second week. You are given time to learn about the corporate culture, the expectations, and policies. The pace is reasonable, and you are not air dropped into the trenches.

    Cons

This is an health insurance company, so expect that the amount of domain knowledge that you'll need to learn is very large.

    Customer Service Representative Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Vancouver, BC
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Pacific Blue Cross (Vancouver, BC) in November 2020.

    Interview

Lengthy, critical & intense hiring process with more steps than necessary for the job requirements. There is a 20 minute online call centre simulation test before you even get an interview. Then there is a 5 min typing test, a 5 min numerical/data entry typing test, a 30 min advanced Microsoft Word test, a 30 min advanced Microsoft Excel test, a 30 minute phone interview with hiring manager, a 30 minute interview with hiring manager & admin assistance, and a 30 minute role play. Probably more steps after those. They say the Microsoft tests are beginner but this is false. They are highly advanced user tests with questions to things you will never even touch as your role in customer service call centre representative.

    Interview Questions

    • Name one time you could not help a customer and the steps you took?   Answer Question
    • Name a time when you had a meeting with a supervisor regarding a negative review about your performance. How did you feel during this interaction, and what steps did you take afterward?   Answer Question
    • Name a time when you made an error at work on a call with a customer. What steps did you take to resolve the issue with the customer?   Answer Question
    • Name a time when you spoke with a customer who was irate and you could not resolve their issue. How did you proceed?   Answer Question
    • What skills and qualities do you have that are relevant to this position?   Answer Question
    • Name a time when you were responsible for the data entry of critical customer information. How did you handle that role?   Answer Question

  • The response to our Bell Let’s Talk event on January 29 was so great we thought we’d keep the momentum going for a few days. Our “talk bubble” wall is full and many employees stopped by to participate in conversations about how they support their own mental wellness. Thanks for helping us reduce the stigma of #mentalhealth at work and in our personal lives. Let’s keep this going! #bellletstalk #pbc #mentalwellbeing
