Our culture allows us to be who we are, while taking advantage of an open and flexible working environment. I have the tools and support I need to do my job well. MD takes the time to invest in me so that I can give back to the business. They see the value in people and take the time to develop them. But the best part about my job is that anyone I talk to is always willing to help—and vice versa: our tools enable collaboration and I appreciate the ability to lend a hand and make someone’s day a lot better. If you’re looking for a space where barriers don’t exist, and where we challenge each other to strive for better, MD provides it all. From e-learning and workshops to a personal expense budget, you’ll enjoy the flexibility to learn and grow your career.

If you have something to contribute, MD allows your voice to be heard! I enjoy my interactions with my colleagues: just having the opportunity to listen to a different point of view, or supporting and coaching one another makes me feel appreciated and valued. MD empowers us to continuously achieve more, learn, grow and make an impact. They don’t just say it, but rather back it up through their investments in development, team events, workshops and conferences. I have been provided with many opportunities: I’ve even been certified as a coach to better support others in the organization. MD encourages me to experiment and use my creativity in ways I never thought possible. If you’re ready for a career that allows you to try new things while having a flexible work environment, then I encourage you to apply today. MD will give you those opportunities—and more.

My job doesn’t even feel like work!
There are many things I love about working at MD. The first being the people. Every day, I’m encouraged and inspired to work alongside brilliant leaders and colleagues. We all have a strong and united purpose to support our physician clients in achieving their financial goals. In my four years at MD, I have received overwhelming support from the leadership team and HR to develop my own leadership skills. The leadership team trusts our work ethics and our abilities, which gives us all independence to work in a way that matches our preferences and abilities. For example, I work out of Vancouver and the head office is in Ottawa, yet I feel as though I’m a part of a cohesive team.
I love being able to choose how and when I work. I am even given an annual budget that I can spend on my own development—work-related or otherwise. If you love what you do, you want to be part of a team and you are inspired by change, this is the company for you.
Life moves quickly, and we are committed to not just keeping up, but being a leader. Our new affiliation with Scotiabank opens so many more doors for growth, while maintaining our amazing corporate culture and independent values. Our focus on our employee promise has only changed for the better and is designed to keep us accountable to the people who matter most: you.
I worked at MD Financial Management full-time (More than 8 years)
The people and culture are second to none. They care about their employees as individuals and support, train, develop and challenge them. Best place I worked at in my entire career and why I stayed there the longest of any job I had.
I can honestly say I had no issues my whole time I worked there. Being a bit smaller means not as many roles for people to advance through but they do develop from within as much as possible.
Advice to Management
Maintain the culture, it’s why you have one of the most loyal and long term tenure employees around.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at MD Financial Management.
MD were absolute professionals in every part of this interview process. They maintained regular communication with me and knew exactly what the next steps were.
Step 1 was a phone interview with the HR team, followed by an interview with the regional manager. The final round was a panel interview with another regional manager and the team of consultants.
