Working together is what sets us apart

Our aim is to build a better world through excellence, innovation and teamwork. We start by putting our people first, which creates a culture that supports personal and professional development along with a sense of pride in being the best at what we do. KCB is home to some of the most talented and highly regarded engineers, geoscientists and environmental scientists in the world. We also have a strong support team, bringing invaluable skills to the organization. Together, we have worked on some of the world's most challenging and unique projects and been recognized for our commitment to innovation. It's obvious that our employees love to work here because our projects and workplace reflect their personal passion for technical excellence, sustainability and adventure.

KCB's employee demographics have shifted considerably over the past five year as we bring in the next generation of professionals. The average age of employees is reduced, more women professionals are joining the firm and new skill sets are being required to manage the wide variety of services being provided to clients.
In 2012, KCB formed a Diversity Committee with six members representing a good cross-section of senior management and geographic locations. The goal of the committee is to address issues affecting young parents, women and ethnic groups in KCB and the engineering industry as a whole.
Open communication and group participation

We continuously share information with staff in a wide variety of ways, including the KCB intranet, newsletters, group sessions and face-to-face interaction. Our aim is make it easier for our people to do their jobs by providing all the tools and information they need to perform safely and effectively. In addition, we provide the means for social interaction, including networking and sharing information on upcoming social events, discussing team activities, arranging for car pools and more.

To support our vision to “Build a Better World”, we balance social, environmental and economic considerations to meet the needs of our clients, the community, our employees and other key stakeholders.

People and Community

We are committed to social responsibility in the workplace and in the communities in which we operate.

We look for opportunities to support causes that our employees are passionate about and dedicated to.  KCB supports a number of charitable organizations and community initiatives. In 2012, KCB donated over $350,000 to a variety of organizations and events, many of which have been employee inspired.  Our contributions are not only monetary; we also support temporary leaves or provide time off for employees to continue their efforts during business hours.  KCB is also committed to supporting educational institutions through endowments, co-op programs and guest lectures.

We take our health and safety initiatives seriously and our company-wide philosophy of zero harm permeates throughout our employee and contractor health and safety practices.  Our employees work on projects all over the world and are faced with cultural, environmental and project specific challenges every day.  To show our duty of care and ensure that our employees come home safely, we reinforce the belief that safety is a way of work not just an additional task.  Health and safety is a part of our culture and every employee owns it.  Our KlohnSafe information sessions are led by staff as "from the team, for the team" to share challenges and review best practices with our peers to improve performance.

KCB has worked on some of the most remote and interesting jobs around the world.  We have built a culture that encourages innovation and rewards excellence in our professional practice.  Sustainability is inherent in what we do.  To be successful, our work must stand the test of time.  In fact we continue to work on sites that we helped develop decades ago.

We are committed to working with our clients to meet their sustainability objectives, and in 2012, we launched our Sustainability Initiative. Find out more about it in our 2012 report.

I worked at Klohn Crippen Berger full-time (More than 3 years)

The pay, benefits and extracurricular activities for the staff are great. I love most especially the people. Everyone is friendly and professional.

I don't really have anything bad to say.. but I hope the supervisors or managers look out for their staff's personal growth within the company. Don't let them just get stuck on the same thing for years.

    Advice to Management

Personal growth is one's responsibility, but supervisors and managers play a great part on it too. An employee couldn't really learn or advance more if their boss is lazy.

    Average Interview

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Klohn Crippen Berger (Vancouver, BC) in March 2015.

It involved a phone interview followed by a face to face interview in their Vancouver office. It was quick and smooth. The phone interview was dine by GROUP personnel but the face to face one was more detailed. I had to talk about my work experience at great length and answer questions primarily to paint a clear picture on my skill sets.

    Interview Questions

    • Give a five minute overview of what your experience and accomplishments are   Answer Question
    • What software you had used in the past   Answer Question
